CROSS STITCH - SUNBONNET SUE AND SAM

Date Posted: 07:26:59 04/21/04 Wed
Author: JoyP
Subject: Sunbonnet Sue and Sam in Cross Stitch

These are just adorable!
Sunbonnet Sue and Sam in Cross Stitch! and Free!

Just a suggestion: since these are in Bmp format, if you download and intend to keep a copy on your computer as I do, I would suggest after you unzip the files, open in your program that opens the bmp format then save to Jpeg and delete the bmp ones because they take up so much more hard disk space.

Author: Fay in Australia
Subject: What Cancer Cannot Do

~ What Cancer Cannot Do –

cancer is so limited...

...It cannot cripple Love

...It cannot shatter Hope

...It cannot corrode Faith

...It cannot destroy Peace

...It cannot kill Friendship

...It cannot suppress Memories

...It cannot silence Courage

...It cannot invade the Soul

...It cannot steal eternal Life

...It cannot conquer the Spirit

Thank you all for your postings.
I have printed this out onto paper whech has a floral border & a teddy holding a sunflower.
I tried at at my market stall ( booth to you, I think you only put horses in stalls)
Anyway, I added a note that I would donate a percentage of sales to the local cancer support group. The 4 that I had there have already gone, so I am glad that I did this because I was really unsure in the beginning, not wanting to offend anyone, but I asked jacksmum & she was very supportive.

Sharlet, I have been looking for you one and I can't find any either, says there are a couple here, scroll down the alphabet till you get to teapots. I couldn't get one to open.

If all else fails email me as I think I have one you can have somewhere in all my "stuff"

Try www.sudberry.com

I just purchased a blue teapot with cup and saucer this week. I wanted to do it in green and they were very quick to respond to me, I bet you could purchase the pattern from them via the internet

Sharlet, I just remembered this one. There is a tea set here. All these patterns are free and good ones at that.
Just click on "cross stitch" where there is a search button for projects on the left side of the page,
then choose by skill level "all levels" and by time "all time"

Thank you, everyone, for your help. Now I have lots to choose from. I am also making a trip to my favorite cross-stitch shop on Thursday so will see if they have anything there too. Thanks also for taking the time to search for these. Have a good day.

CROSS STITCH SNOWMEN

Date Posted: 17:25:13 01/23/04 Fri
Author: Norma
Subject: Help from cross stitchers needed

My daughter-in-law wants to cross stitch a Christmas tree skirt for this Christmas. She wants to do one with snowmen since she collects them. I know in the past I've seen whimsical ones, but couldn't find any in all my cross stitch magazines and haven't been able to find any on the internet. Would anyone have any idea as to where else I can look.
Thanks a bunch, Norma

I think I have seen some in Mary Maxim or Herrschner's catalogs. Do you have a cross-stitch shop in your area as I know there are books and leaflets available with patterns in them. Will look more and let you know.

CROSS-STITCHING OVER AFGHAN STITCHES

Date Posted: 11:58:16 08/16/04 Mon
Author: marcia
Subject: afghan stitch help

i've got an idea for an afghan in mind using the afghan stitch. can a regular cross stitch pattern be used to cross stitch on top of the afghan stitches???? seems as though i remember someone once telling me you couldn't use cross stitch patterns on afghan stitiches. i also seem to remember being told that there was a type of pattern that could be used (maybe plastic canvas). does anyone know for sure before i start and end up with a mess.
thanks for any and all help.

In answer to your question, yes you can crossstitch on the afghan st. You do it the same as you would on aida cloth. Just remember not to pull your stitches to tight or you whole afghan will pucker.

kitty,
thanks for your reply. i guess i didn't make my question very clear. i know that i can cross stitch on the afghan stitches, but can i use a regular cross stitch pattern or do i need to alter it in some way? seems like i remember being told that a regular cross stitch pattern would not work out the same way on the afghan stitch. does that make sense?
marcia

[> [> [> Re: afghan stitch help -- Grandmabonnie2003, 21:30:21 08/16/04 Mon [1]

Marcia - I used regular cross stitch graphs and they looked great with the afghan. I cross stitched the pattern after doing the afghan stitch. I did football helmets on them - also the Dodger logo for my DS. No altering was necessary. The stitch is a square whereas in knitting, it is a short rectangle and I would have to do two rows for each stitch on the pattern... HTH
