Subject: Loom Knitting Question
I have a loom knitting question for Sharlet - have you ever tried to do a stripe going the length of the project instead of around it? I could crochet the project, but loom knitting is so much faster for me, but I can't figure out if it's possible to do a stripe this way.
Thanks for any tips.

Hi Mary,
You mean like a vertical stripe on a hat or something? I just got the 'new' adult hat loom and a booklet with directions. One of the patterns is for a vertical striped hat. Want me to mail it to you?

That would be great if you could mail it to me! Where did you find this new loom? I never see anything new in my area and books on loom knitting are non-existent. I'll e-mail you my home address and reimburse you for your postage.
Thanks for the response.

Mary, I couldn't find that new adult hat loom around here either. A lady on one of the boards that I belong to was selling several that she had and that is how I got it. They may have them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby by now. I haven't looked for awhile. I think the best book there is on loom knitting is "Loom Knitting Primer' by Isela Phelps. I use it time and time again. I bet you could buy it from her website. Let me see if I can find it and let you know, ok?

I got my new hat loom at Joann's a couple of months ago.

Jan, do you have the booklet with patterns for the new adult hat loom? A lot of the patterns say that they are worked from the top down and to make the ribbed brim last. I don't know why but this totally stumps me, I just can't 'picture' in my mind what they mean. Can you help me if you have done one? Thanks.

Unless there is a new booklet out that I have not seen, I found only one hat that starts top down and that is the woven top. I do have another book all hats but did not look in that yet - have to find where I put it LOL. I will do more checking and see what I can find here.
