POEM: BABY GIRL HOMECOMING OUTFIT GIVEN BY GREAT GRANDMA

Date Posted: 14:08:05 03/06/04 Sat
Author: tadpole'sgrannie
Subject: Heirloom gift from Great Grandma poem needed

Hi, my mom is giving my daughter a new outfit for her baby girl to wear home from the hospital when she's born. Does anything come to your mind as a simple verse about a Great Grandma giving a new baby her going home outfit? The outfit is white and says "Little Princess" on it. She also made a recieving blanket with pink roses on it. The baby is the 4th generation first born girl. My mom is called "Grams", my daughter's name is Jenelle, I'm called Grannie, and the baby's name is a surprise... Thank you!

Hello there little princess
Please let me if I may
Give this little outfit
For your homecoming day
I am your mommy's grandma
So you can call me Grams
Welcome to our family
You precious little lamb!

Baby bracelet poem

Subject: Baby bracelet poem

Ok all you crafty ladies, who have helped me so much in the last few months. I am in need of another poem. We are having a shower ( before the baby is born ) for my niece. As I want to give her this baby bracelet and am not sure if it will be a boy or girl I will make one of each. Unless she has twins, I would like to have the opposite one back. How would you word a poem to go with this problem? All help is appreciated. I love all the ideas on this forum. Thank s again. Linda

You guys are fantastic! How you can come up with these poems on such short notice is beyond me. Thank you soo much. My niece will love either of them. She and my daughter were 2 days apart and they both had received the baby bonnet to bride when they wre born. This is a great way to keep the tradition going. Thanks again. Linda

katie...as I said before...it is sure good to have you back and posting!!!! Linda is this what you meant by wording it to address the "problem"?

A baby is a special gift
Of bundled love and joy
Whether you've been blessed with
A baby girl or boy
I've made two special bracelets
For you to tuck away
Until the baby arrives on
That very happy day
But when you've had the baby
Since future telling skills I lack
Please keep the correct bracelet
And may I have the other back?

[> Re: Baby bracelet poem -- lou, 00:32:33 07/31/04 Sat [1]

Linda,
You may already have your design thought out.
But if you haven't you may want to use
beads the color of the months birthstone.
Just a suggestion.

First a poem to your neice.

O.K. neice(or her name)you'll choose the right one
When you know the outcome
Then it's plain to see
You'll give the other back to me.

There's nothing so sweet
As a new baby boy
I made this bracelet with love
As you'll bring lots of joy.

There's nothing so sweet
As a new baby girl
I made this bracelet with love
For our precious pearl.

Poem and link: Baby tin of bath items

Subject: Baby poems please

Hi everyone,

I have searched the archives under baby but just am not finding what I'm looking for. I thought we had alot more baby stuff. I need to find a nice poem for a baby boy and one for a baby girl and one general one for boy or girl. I am doing up some gift cans and want to put a label on the back of the can with a nice poem. I want to make some generic ones. The cans will have sample bottles of shampoo, lotion, wipes, and baby oil... for a baby's bath. Thanks in advance.

Girls,

I am so sorry, I let this post get away. I have been working on stuff and didn't realize my post had been answered! I have these senior moments more and more often. These poems are great and I can use all of them as a variety to the labels. Thank you soooooo much. I really appreciated it. You all are so good and generous.

POEMS FOR BABY'S SAFETY PIN ANGEL

Date Posted: 12:35:50 07/21/04 Wed
Author: Lorraine
Subject: Poem Please

I am making little angels out of safety pins for baby showers and was hoping someone could come up with a little poem to attach to them.
I will do them in all pink or all blue. Wanted to take a moment and let you know how great you all are and how much I appreciate each and every one of you. You never cease to amaze me. Thanks for all your hard work. God bless you all!

Angel for Baby
Every baby has an angel
Sent from God above
Guarding and protecting them
With lots of angel love!
(by: Jennifer Byerly)

Angel
Delivered on an angel's wing
Wrapped up in pink or blue
Coming from the home of God
A baby fine and new
The angel stays and guards the babe
Throughout the baby’s life
Through the years she keeps her safe
Guarding her from strife
As the baby grows the angels knows
On earth is where she’ll stay
Watching her and keeping her
Safe from harm's way
This little pin is simply meant
To remind you that it’s true
You have an angel of your own
For you were once a baby too!

I make them out of safety pins. They are an ornament but can be made to be pins also. I'm sure you've seen them around but I just used smaller pins to make them little. Hope this helps.

Lorraine, do you have instructions or a picture of these. My sister is pregnant and this sounds like something I could make.

Lil, I bought the kits and altered the pattern (mainly because I couldn't figure it out) and then I tried using different size pins and beads. Here is the site for the original kits.

www.orientaltrading.com.

In the search box, type in safety pin angel.

POEMS: BABY BLANKETS

Date Posted: 03:19:38 02/21/04 Sat
Author: Amanda W. Finger
Subject: Poem For Baby Blanket

I am giving a baby shower Feb. 28 and have decided to have a baby blanket for everyone to sign as a keepsake for the mother-to-be. I like to write a poem in the middle of the blanket. I did find a couple of baby blanket poems on the message board here but it wasn't what I am really hoping to find because I would like to have the blanket framed as a keepsake for the mother-to-be to hang on the wall in the nursey, if she wants. So, the blanket won't be used to keep the baby warm, etc.... instead I would like for the poem to be about how the names on the blanket are people who care so much, etc......? Any ideas?

You wrote a lovely poem and I am so grateful but I was wondering if you could write one without mentioning the framing of the blanket incase that isn't something that she wants done? Just wondering and hope that I haven't upset you by asking for something else. Thanks for everything!

[> Re: Poem For Baby Blanket -- Caboobie, 06:11:46 02/21/04 Sat [1]

This little baby blanket
Is a token of the love
Of all the special people
You think the whole world of
They've taken a pen and signed it
To show how much they care
And each time that you look at it
Their memory will be there
So take this little blanket
And hang it in a frame
To bring you smiles each time you look
And see each special name

Thanks so much Diane

[> Re: Poem For Baby Blanket -- Caboobie, 02:55:21 02/25/04 Wed [1]

Of course you haven't upset me (although us poets can be so sensitive lol) I've re-written the last part and also added another. Hope it helps.

This little baby blanket
Is a token of the love
Of all the special people
You think the whole world of
They've taken a pen and signed it
To show how much they care
And each time that you look at it
Their memory will be there
It's just a little blanket
But as the years go by you'll find
That memories of this special day
Will pop into your mind
(c) 0204 Yvonne Lowther

We took a pen
And scribed our name
On a blanket just for you
To let you know
How happy we are
That one will soon be two
Our special thoughts
Flowed from the ink
As each word was wrote with love
Then we wrapped it up
And gave it to
Someone we think the whole world of
(c) 0204 Yvonne Lowther

[> Re: Poem For Baby Blanket -- Caboobie, 06:58:08 02/21/04 Sat [1]

Here you are Diane, hope it helps.

Jordan, when you find these blankies
All wrapped up nice and neat
Just take them out and hold them
And they'll bring back memories sweet
For these blankies were your comforters
When you were oh so small
They were your favourite item
Until you grew too tall
Then we wrapped them up and stored them
Just in case you see
They would become useful again
As a comforter maybe
For one day in the future
You might take them from their store
To pass onto your little one
When the circle begins once more

I attended a baby shower when the mom to be was presented with a blanket that was made by her great grandmother, attached was a letter that was written to her daughter (original recipient) with a handmade blanket that the maker had requested to have the blanket passed along the generations to the daughters in the family having babies. Any ideas for a poem that could be used for a son or daughter having children that could pass along a blanket made by a grandmother? Hopefully, if I make the blanket, my children will know I WANT GRANDCHILDREN!!!! Keep your fingers crossed... thank you.

Subject: Help, I need a poem for a baby blanket

Help !!!!!!!! This is my first time at writing. I have a craft where I type these words on the computer and print them out on iron-on paper.."Roses are red, Violets are blue, With each diaper change I'll be thinking of you". This is then ironed onto a cloth diaper. I also sew on little buttons that have baby themes. They make great baby shower gifts. Everyone signs the diaper with a permanent marker and it is a keepsake for the baby. I want to do the same with a receiving blanket but I'm having a hard time thinking of a poem that says something about the baby being wrapped in love. I also want to do it with a cloth napkin for a wedding shower. These can be framed. I also thought about doing one on a regular blanket for someone who is going to have an extended stay in the hospital. Something about using the blanket when you feel alone and know that you are covered with the love of the doctors, nurses and loved ones. Can anyone help me with some poems? I am definately poem challenged.

That is a wonderful project and we'd LOVE to see pictures. You can either send them to me and I'll post them or if you want to start an album you can post pictures in there anytime you want.

The link is at

Right beside where it shows the page numbers of the albums it says "Create an album"... Click there and it will tell you how to put in the address from your computer where the picture is stored.

If you have any problems let me know or you're welcome to send them to me and I'll post them.

Here's the poems I wrote, I've also got a picture of the beacelet, but can't remember who provided it. If you want me to send it to you just ask, but put baby bracelet in the subject line please.

For a baby girl

A bracelet made of tiny beads
To celebrate a brand new life
One day it will be useful
When this little girl becomes a wife

The age old wedding saying
Something old will come in force
As this bracelet will then be
As OLD as her of course

The NEW will be the saftey pin
To fasten it to her dress
And as for something BORROWED
It will be the pin, I guess

A little ribbon on the top
Will complete this as it's BLUE
And to bring her luck on her wedding day
Just tuck the LUCKY PENNY in her shoe
(C) Yvonne Lowther 1103

For a baby boy

Not so very long ago
A baby boy arrived
And in his cot, beside him
This little gift was spied

It was a pretty bracelet
Tied with a ribbon BLUE
And on the card a penny
Tucked inside a shoe

The gift tag said, Please keep me
In a drawer beside your bed
Then pass me to your loved one
The girl that you will wed

Tell her she must wear this OLD thing
Tied by a NEW pin onto her dress
Remind her that it's BORROWED
Wink your eye and then confess

That when the weddings over
She must hand it back to you
Oh and don't forget the penny
It must slip inside her shoe

Thank you Sue. Here's the poem off the picture, I can't remember who wrote it but I think it might have been a lady known as Diananana2four. I have also added the two poems that I wrote. The case was an old CD cover.

Once upon a time.....
A baby girl was born
This pearl and silver bracelet
Upon her wrist was worn
Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
A lucky penny in her shoe
These treasures she’d recall with pride
When this woman became a bride
Keep these tiny treasures close to use
The day you’ll treasure most

This is on the other side to the poem,

To use on your wedding day
Take your bracelet, which is now an OLD heirloom and fold in half to form a ring. Then BORROW a NEW safety pin to attach into your wedding dress. Don’t forget to put your LUCKY penny in your shoe

These are my two poems.

A bracelet made of tiny beads
To celebrate a brand new life
One day it will be useful
When this little girl becomes a wife

The age old wedding saying
Something old will come in force
As this bracelet will then be
As OLD as her of course

The NEW will be the saftey pin
To fasten it to her dress
And as for something BORROWED
It will be the pin, I guess

A little ribbon on the top
Will complete this as it's BLUE
And to bring her luck on her wedding day
Just tuck the LUCKY PENNY in her shoe
(C) Yvonne Lowther 1103

And if the baby is a boy…………

Not so very long ago
A baby boy arrived
And in his cot, beside him
This little gift was spied

It was a pretty bracelet
Tied with a ribbon BLUE
And on the card a penny
Tucked inside a shoe

Oh and don't forget the penny
It must slip inside her shoe

Could someone please post the directions? these are so beautiful.

[> Re: Picture of Baby Bracelet -- Caboobie, 05:36:49 07/04/04 Sun [1]

The directions were posted with the original picture last year, but I somehow managed to lose them, Sorry.
I think it was just a set of blue and white beads on elastic to make the bracelet, then a shoe graphic cut along the top to insert the penny. The poem and writing were printed out on a piece of card and then cut to fit in a clear CD case. Hope this helps.

Hello ladies. I am glad you like the Baby to Bride bracelet. I made this as my version after seeing something similar where they used an acrylic picture frame. I liked the cd idea better. Here are the directions for those of you that want them. I also have the shoe graphic that I can share if you want it.

Here are the directions:
Just open up any graphics program, I used PrintMaster.

POEM: IT'S A GIRL PENCIL GIFT FROM TEACHER TO STUDENT

Date Posted: 22:35:18 03/03/04 Wed
Author: tadpole'sgrannie
Subject: new baby poem for kindergarteners

Hi, my daughter is expecting her first baby in 5 weeks. I teach Kindergarten and have been leaving my class with a sub once a month, taking a long weekend to travel to the state where my daughter lives. When the baby is born I'll be gone a week, and will bring back some "it's a girl pencils" to my students. I would love to have a poem to attach. My students were able to meet my children in the fall when they were here for a visit, so sort of know who she is. You know how cute kids can be, sometimes they forget and call me "Mom" or "Grandma" when trying to get my attention and forget they are in school. We have said sometimes I am their school Mom or Grandma. Thanks for anything you can think of...

Heres a little something
From a brand new little girl
She wants to send you all her love
Now she'd joined us in this world
She knows you're really special
As her Grandma's told her so
And how you've all been so very good
When her Grandma had to go
The supply teachers that looked after you
Said you were a lovely crowd
And like my brand new granddaughter
You make me very proud

WOW - you are amazing. I read the first lines and got tears! This is beautiful. When I read it I remembered that my daughter teaches 5th grade and will be taking maternity leave soon. I will change the wording and get extra pencils for her class too. Thank you so much, you have no idea how grateful I am!

POEMS: HEIRLOOM BABY BLANKET

Subject: Another baby blanket poem request

Poem request for Baby Blanket also -- Pauline, 13:06:15 02/23/04 Mon [1]

I attended a baby shower when the mom to be was presented with a blanket that was made by her great grandmother, attached was a letter that was written to her daughter (original recipient) with a handmade blanket that the maker had requested to be passed along the generations to the daughters in the family having babies. Any ideas for a poem that could be used for a son or daughter having children that could pass along a blanket made by a grandmother? Thanks for your help AGAIN!!!!

[> Re: Another baby blanket poem request -- jenjoy, 22:00:18 03/04/04 Thu [1]

As you look inside this box
There’s a gift that’s meant to be
A tradition that will end up
Carved into our family tree
This hand made quilt of love
Is a memory to pass
Along to each new baby
Whether lad or lass
So if you’re the one that holds it
Just remember that one day
You’ll have to bid it farewell
As you pass it on it’s way
Unto the very next
Babe to join our family tree
A gift of generations
And full of memories!
Jennifer Byerly

Or here's something a little different:
Inside this little package
A handmade quilt so dear
To follow family milestones
And mark its path in years
The intent is that each owner
Be a member on our tree
Of all the generations
That were and are to be
So let’s keep up tradition
And not let it be erased
Allow this special quilt to
Let our family line be traced
Jennifer Byerly

Or here's a combination of the two above poems:
As you look inside this package
There’s a gift that’s meant to be
A tradition that will end up
Carved into our family tree
For inside this little package
Is a handmade quilt so dear
Which will follow family milestones
And mark a path in years
The intent is that each owner
Be a member on our tree
Of all the generations
That were and are to be
So if you’re the one that holds it
Just remember that one day
You’ll have to bid it farewell
As you pass it on it’s way
So let’s keep up tradition
And not let it be erased
Allow this special quilt to
Let our family line be traced

Sayings: Expectant Mother

Expectant Mother

Subject: Craft Sayings

I am looking for craft sayings for an expectant mother can anyone help?

[> Re: Craft Sayings -- jazbo, 17:14:17 09/28/04 Tue [1]

I don't have any sayings, as such, but here's some poems, etc. The questions & answers are quite funny. hahahahahaha

Maternity
(Elizabeth Stone)
Making the decision to have a child -
It is momentous. It is to
Decide forever to have your
Heart walking around
Outside your body.

If Men Got Pregnant:
Maternity leave would last two years...with full pay
There would be a cure for stretch marks
Natural childbirth would become obsolete
Morning sickness would rank as the nation's #1 health problem
All methods of birth control would be 100% effective
Children would be kept in the hospital until toilet trained
Men would be eager to talk about commitment
They wouldn't think twins were so cute
Sons would have to be home from dates by 10:00 PM
Briefcases would be used as diaper bags
Paternity suits would be a fashion line of clothes
They'd stay in bed during the entire pregnancy
Restaurants would include ice cream and pickles as main entrees
Women would rule the world!!!

Finally We'll Meet
(Sharon A. Blevins)
I love you, little baby
You're such a part of me.
Can't wait to hold you in my arms,
And hug you tenderly.
No matter what you look like,
You're beautiful, my love,
A precious gift bequeathed to me,
From heaven far above.
Each time I feel you moving,
My heart is filled with joy,
To think that very soon I'll hold
My little girl or boy,
I'm counting every moment,
Til you're mine at last, my sweet
It won't be long until your birth,
Then finally we'll meet.

Pregnancy Q and A
Q: Should I have a baby after 35?
A: No, 35 children is enough.
Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move?
A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.
Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.
Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational.
A: So what's your question?
Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.
Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.
Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.
Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.
Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.
Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

I'm making kitchen towel bibs or cover ups. They have elastic in the front and slip on like a little shirt.
Need a poem for them.

Thanks,

Those sound cute, I'm assuming these are baby bibs.

If sweet little mouths
Have drooling lips
Use this towel bib
To catch all the drips

Your sweet little angel
Might dribble a little bit
But this cuddly soft bib
Will be sure to catch all the spit

Poem: Baby Books

Postby krafteekaren » Sun Oct 24, 2004 1:52 am

Date Posted: 11:59:56 10/12/04 Tue
Author: p31iwish
Subject: Need a poem!

This is the original idea, I need a version of this explained below.

This is a neat idea to give to a friend who's having a baby. You will
need to decorate a jar and include a little notepad with pastel pages
and a pen or pencil to match. Here is a poem to add to the top/side
of the jar:

Poem to add to jar:

Baby books are great ideas,
but sometimes you're too busy.
Living with a little one
can put you in a tizzy.
Milestones pass too fast at times
to find the proper page.
So, jot a note of each event
with date or baby's age
(like "Took 3 steps on May the 1st"
or "Teething -- 5 December"),
then drop it in this Memory Jar
to help you to remember!

I have actually made this several times for baby showers at church but I am interested in a poem that is appropriate for an elementary age student to write their own memory jar information. My daughter would get a kick of writing down her own memories....thanks in advance for your help...a poet I am not!

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing it! :)

Kelli

Special things can happen
As we go along our way,
And some extraordinary thing
Can brighten any day!
It doesn't really matter
What kind of things occur,
Time can cause the memory of
Those special things to blur.
This jar will serve as holder of
The memories sweet to you,
Just jot them down and drop them in,
That's all you have to do!
Include the date it happened
And then when you are done
You'll have them down in black and white,
Those memories, sweet and fun!

Hi Connie, welcome to the board!!! I wasn't too sure which direction to take a poem for you but here is one I wrote about a month ago for someone else. You are welcome to use it if it fits what you're looking for. The only thing I ask is that you would please keep my name attached to it. Thanks so much!!!!

What blessing surpasses all others
Then the tug on a grandma’s heart strings?
As she cradles the next generation
And the joy that her grandbaby brings!

Light of her life and so precious!
Oh how she makes her heart sing!
Sweet goodness fresh fallen from heaven
Delivered on soft angel wings

A Baby Girl

A little girl,
She’ll bring such joy,
You’ll find she’s different to a boy.
Bows and ribbons at the start,
Very soon, she’ll steal your heart.
She’ll wrap her daddy round her finger,
You’ll see it when he starts to linger,
By her cot to watch her sleep,
You’ll be so touched by his love so deep.
Of course the other thing that comes,
Lots of dramas and tantrums!
Boys are quick to get over it…..
Ever seen a girl throw a screaming fit?
Treat them gently, handle with care,
Learn to ignore the odd “look’ or glare,
Get ready for the “prettys”, till she’s about ten,
Pinks purples and pastels she’ll wear until then.
Then all of a sudden a stranger appears,
She’ll think she can dress, like Miss Britney Spears!
Don’t let her get too far ahead of her years,
Even if it means she sheds a few tears.
She’ll thank you one day when she looks back in time,
She’ll think, “What did I do to those parents of mine?
There will be a few times she’ll disappear to her room,
Don’t worry too much, she’ll come back to you soon.
Tell her you love her again and again,
And listen quite closely when you hear a boys name.
For as much as you don’t want that day to appear,
It gets closer and closer with each passing year.
Talk to her often, listen much more,
Let your eyes always light up
when she comes through your door.
Remember each moment, they’re too quickly away,
Make sure you enjoy her every day.
And when she is older and quite fully grown,
She’ll remember the love she shared in her home.
And even when she becomes both a mother and wife,
Part of her will stay with you, all through her life.
She’ll come back to you often, her family in tow,
Did you do a good job? That’s how you’ll know.
Take care of your girl, she will bring you much pleasure,
And be grateful each day you received such a treasure!

Baby Shower Poem for Bubbles

Take this bottle of bubbles
And blow them to the sky
Make a wish to tag along
As they soar way up high
Remember to save a couple
To make a wish for the brand new mom
That everything goes really well
Be it new daughter or new son

Sorry can't think of any except this, it's probably no good, but I thought it might make you smile (grin) You could use just one of the verses if you wanted to.

When God made little girls
He made them oh so cute
He bathed them in His Holy light
And delivered them in a birthday suit

All soft and very cuddly
A precious little mite
Someone you’ll fall in love with
The minute you catch sight

A darling baby daughter
A child so fresh and new
A special little someone
That God has sent to you

How about this?

No earthly joys
Could bring more pleasure
Than a little girl (can make this baby girl)
To love and treasure

I don't even remember where I got this, but I do laminated magnets with this verse.

Poem for Guardian Angel of Babies

Subject: Poem for Guardian Angel of Babies

I will be going to a baby shower for my great-niece's baby on Saturday. Instead of a ribbon on the package I want to put one of my PC angels. I would like a poem for a guardian angel of babies. It can be for any baby, so everyone else could use the verse too. I know new mothers always worry, especially first time mothers,so maybe it could have something in it about letting the angel and God watch after the baby. Thanks!!! Laurel

Laurel,

Here's my attempt for the Guardian Angel of Babies poem. I hope this is what you wanted. Jerry

Welcome to the family little baby boy or girl
We are so excited about your coming birth
May the Guardian Angel of Babies
Guide you gently from your home in Heaven
to your new home with our (or your) family on Earth.

Laurel,
The 1st line of the 2nd poem should read:

"We welcome you to the family little baby boy or girl"

So sorry that I goofed when typing!
