Poems: For Passing Down Dishes

Subject: Poem for Dishes Please

Hi, Another idea needing a poem. Many of us our age are downsizing as we have collected much to much over the years. My girlfriends and I decided that it would be nice to pack dishes that we have had and give them away to someone setting up house. We are strong believers of passing things along instead of tossing them out. Some pieces may be missing, but they are in great shape with many nice memories. We thought the dishes could bring the next owner good luck, good memories and good fortune. We are going to pack them up in a basket with some of our favorite recipes and off they go. I thought a poem would be nice to go along. Any ideas?

Some used and much loved dishes,
They're filled with happy memories,

They may not be brand, sparkling new,
But they'll help you as you start,
Dishes and recipes for you,

I agree its a lovely idea Pauline, and such a nice poem to go with it Marina! I have lots of things I'd like to pass on to others and think this helps with the "pride" bit that people seem to get hung up about. They could use the poem too , to pass on to someone else if and when they replace yours with a chosen matching set. I was trying to think of something about even when they'd finished with them that their pets or plants would enjoy them too, but unfortunately work got in the way!!!!

with memories of many dinners
good luck we hope it brings.
These things have served us well
the recipes tried and true

Pass Along Dishes

These dishes served us very well
with good meals tho some burned,
and with them thru the years
there's much I have learned.

And now the time has come
to make them pass along dishes.
So here they are with recipes
to make up something delicious.

Please pass them on when ready
as a set or one here and there.
May they brighten a day
and spread love and care.

Hi, I have been away for a few days attending a family funeral. This is the first chance I have had to check the board. Again, I bow to the talent of your ability to put such wonderful thoughts into words. Thank you for the beautiful poems. They will make so many so happy, my husband, as now I will clean out our cupboards, myself, as I will not toss anything that I think someone else can use, and the recipitent as now she can get a start to her nesting with no cost.
