Subject: Need Poem for Substitute teacher
Could any of you wonderfully talented ladies help me with a poem request? My son, who is in the 2nd grade has had a substitute teacher since last month when his teacher moved to Ca. He has asked me to write a note to her for her Christmas gift, so he sould sign and frame it but I wanted to see if I could do something to make it more memorable for her. My poetry skills are minimal (and not meant for little ears LOL)so I figured if anyone could do it, you all could. He & I would really appreciate it.
OK--now off to find those plastic cones---what an awesome idea!

i don't have a poem, but my oldest daughter has been a substitute teacher the last 3 years while attending college.
some of the best gifts she has recived from some of the kids have been hand drawn pics, or notes to her. she has kept every one of them. she subs at 14 different elementary schools in our district and years later they still come up to her when they see her in the halls and give her a hug. so cute. i would suggest your son do the note, or artwork. it really would mean so much more. just my own 2 cents worth

trisha--Thanks for your reply. I will have him do something for her.
I am dismayed somewhat though, other folks ask for a poem and the world answers, yet I get zip. Was it something I said? I am mostly a lurker here, don't post alot, not much time--is that it? Is it because I am not "one of the regulars?" I appreciate all of your talent, and have been doing alot of these ideas for my Christmas gifts since I am unemployed this year. I know we are all busy.I don't know-very disheartening indeed.I guess maybe we are too busy. :~(

This little gift I made for you....
To thank you for all you do........
I'm glad you're teaching at our school,
Cause I think you're pretty cool....
Have a Christmas filled with cheer,
And, I look forward to seeing you
again next year.....
justanotherdot, I hope this helps....It would have helped me to know what the gift was, the more information I have the easier it is to pick words out to rhyme with....I'm sorry you had to wait so long, but if you look under this post, you will see there are others that didn't get a poem yet either....I think we try to answer all the requests, and we do have Christmas at our houses too...(This is voluntary when we write a poem for someone, and I don't pick anyone by name...I write the poem that comes easiest to me..sometimes a poem just doesn't come that easy..It could be for lack of enough information, or a subject that is difficult, etc..)....Again, I hope the poem helps, if it isn't what you want, please put more info down, and someone will try again....

Here's another poem that might work...I wrote it two different ways...hope one of them helps though. I saw your post earlier too but I had writers block...happens more often then not! Ack! Please don't take it personally though it had nothing to do with you or your post. How wonderful that your son wants to do something special for his teacher! Good luck with your ideas!

There's a special little something
In the special way you teach
Your patience, love and guidance
For every child you reach
Your kindness and your spirit
I think you ought to know
Touches each and everyone
And sets us all aglow!

There's a special little something
With a rhythm all its own
That sets the heart strings ringing
With the teaching you have shown
Your kindness and your spirit
I think you ought to know
Touches each and everyone
And sets us all aglow!

The poems are great. Thank you. You have made a little 7 year old boy very happy. I am SO sorry about being grumpy before--it was not a good day for me. A bit of history--hubby & I finally bought a house in August, I got laid off in October, tried to go shopping Sunday for gifts. Long on Christmas lists(you know how kids can be) short on cash. I was extremely frustrated. I did not mean to take it out on you all. Again, I am sorry if it seemed like I was biting at anyone, I really didn't mean to. I have gotten alot of ideas off of here that I have made for the kids. They are pretty cool about the homemade things. I have tried to instill simplicity in them since they were little. But, they are kids. Now, if I could only get the rest of my family to think that. Sometimes I spend more on them than my own three. I thank you all so much for your help with this. We haven't decided which one we will use yet, but Joey says thanks too!
