Please be careful with these lamps, my MIL made me some candles in wineglasses last year for Christmas, so I have had and used them almost a year, and the other day I had 2 of them burning, I heard a 'pop', and one of the glasses had cracked, I threw it away, and just a short time later, the other one popped, and the whole side of the glass shattered and threw glass several feet into the room.
This pattern does call for a votive or battery operated candle, so the battery one should be safe.
Just wanted to share a word of warning.

I have seen this done and they put sand in the bottom of the glass. I don't know if this is done to keep the glass from getting too hot. Nylietta

May I suggest using a tea light in the glass, rather than a candle?
