FRUITY BATH SALTS

Date Posted: 11:11:46 07/23/03 Wed
Author: CrazyMe-Ma
Subject: Fruity Bath Salt Recipe

Hello Everyone,

I came across this recipe today & I thought I would share it with everyone. I have always been interested in making bath salts but haven't tried my hand at it yet. So if anyones does try this one Please let me know how it works out.

FRUITY BATH SALTS

3 qt. Epsom salt
3 envelopes unflavored Kool-Aid *(without sugar, any flavor of choice)
* If layering the bath salts, use three different flavors/colors
of drink mix, and mix 1 envelope of Kool-Aid to 1 quart
Epsom salt in each of three bowls. Alternate colored layers in a nice
container.
Otherwise use the same flavor Kool-Aid and mix into the Epsom salt.
Pour into a nice container.
Either seal with a cork or pour a layer of warm (not hot) paraffin on
top of each. Add a raffia bow for a nice gift.

Donna, is this what you are looking for?

1 cup of cornstarch
2 cups skim milk powder
½ cup baking soda
½ cup oatmeal

Mix all ingredients in a blender until the consistency of fine powder.

Add two or three tablespoons to your bath to soothe your soul and soften your skin.

Thanks ladies, that is exactly what I was looking for, I saved the graphics to my files, but forgot to write the ingredients. I can't do 2 things at one time. I will try to send you ladies the graphics, by e-mail. I got them from shadow-graphics. Thanks again Donna L.

[> Re: Oatmeal Bath????? -- LittleBit, 23:18:59 02/20/04 Fri [1]

Would you mind sharing the web address to the graphic?

Little Bit, I am not too good at computer stuff. I got the graphics from http://www.shadow-graphics.com/craftprintables.html. The envelope is located under crafts and gifts. It is about 3/4 of the way down the page on the right hand side. Hope this helps. If this doesn't work I can send it to you from my files. Good Luck Donna L.

Re: oatmeal baths. DD just had her 12th birthday and had a 'Pamper Me' slumber party. The girls made hair turban wraps, bath salts, lip gloss, facial scrubs, cucumber masks and an oatmeal foot scrub. Oatmeal was ground to a fine powder, however, most rinsed in the pan they used and dumped it down the toilet. The other three rinsed in the tub. After 2 hours of fiddling with the pipes, my DH finally relieved the clog. Just beware. They did make a milk bath mixture in which there was no problem. Just a reminder to be careful.

BATH FIZZIES A LA IRIS EMILY

10 Tbsp baking soda
5 Tbsp cornstarch
5 Tbsp citric acid
5 droppers full FO or EO
2 Tbsp ~approx~ melted cocoa butter

(I added some almond oil to the melted cocoa butter to keep the cocoa butter in a liquid form when I added the oil to the dry ingredients)..I think you will be using a little more than 2 Tbsp
Get lumps out of soda & cornstarch either by sifting
or stirring down. Add dry ingredients together in food processor (I used a blender). Now the tricky
part...drizzle the oil into the dry ingredients in order
to "bind" the dry ingredients together. This is where
I also added my FO. As I used a blender Ireached a point where I took the mixture from the blender and put into a bowl. I continued to add oil and mixed with my fingers. You want a consistency where the mixture "starts" to cling together whenpressed together to form a ball. You won't get a ball that will hold together well, but shows the start of it. Now is time to pack into molds. I used Wilton candy molds and packed down very hard. I then put the molds into the freezer for about 2 hours. I then popped the fizzies out and put on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. I put the sheet into the oven set at 100 - 150 degrees and left for about 45 minutes. Let cool before touching. When I
took them out of the oven they were hard enough to pick up without crumbling. I left them on the cookie sheet to continue to harden. The detail of the molded fizzies is unbelieveable. You can see every line and design of those very small plastic candy molds. I used some of the pearlescent powder that came
from Walmart's M&P products (used violet)...added this while I was stirring the dry ingredients together. I also added some dark purple Wilton's edible glitter at the same time. I now have lovely pale violet (with specks of dark purple glitter), finely detailed bath fizzies sitting on my kitchen counter which smell wonderful. I wrapped some in purple saran wrap, took to work and gave out to my guinea pigs. About molds, try to avoid any that have shallow surface area...I used Wilton's rose molds...some of the rose designs have petal tips that are too weak to stand up to being handled. I must say that I'm impressed with how these
came out. I think that using melted cocoa butter that
starts to solidify and binds the dry ingredients
together is the key to this along with the packing
into molds. I never got an exact measure on the amount of oil I used but went by touch when mixing
with my fingers (I made two batches).

CUCUMBER MOISTURE TREATMENT FOR BATH

1 c. Lard
1 cucumber
1 tsp. peppermint extract or lime essential oil

Melt lard over low heat. Wash the cucumber in hydrogen peroxide rinse to
remove impurities. Put cucumber in blender. Strain the juice into the
lard. Whisk well then remove from heat. When cool, chill it until all
the lard can be carefully lifted from the liquid underneath. Transfer
the liquid into a mason jar and add scent. Shake to mix.

Pour 1/4 c. Into bath water.

CLEANSING BODY POLISHER WITH JOJOBA

1 cup fine sea salt
1/2 cup jojoba
1/2 cup liquid soap
1/2 tsp lavender essential oil or peppermint for footsies

I poured about 1 1/2 cups of boiling water over a bunch of grated
homemade soap. I stirred it and smushed it until it cooled off enough
to mush it with my hands. Then I poured it through one of those cone
shaped colanders (used for canning) with the petistal (sp?) that comes
to a point at the end. I pushed it through the strainer and then
strained it again, this time removing most of the remaining soap
particles. Then I measured ½ cup of the liquid to use in the Body
Polisher recipe. This one came out liquidy and would work best in a
plastic bottle with a flip top lid so you could pour it.

CLEANSING BODY POLISHER WITH OLIVE OIL (PEPPERMINT)

1 cup fine sea salt
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup melted Melt and Pour base
1/2 tsp. peppermint essential oil

This one I just mixed all together. It made a thick paste (when it set
up) that I put in a wide mouth jar to dip out with your fingers. I
think I would use this more as a foot scrub or a hand/body scrub, but
not on my face.
