I've been making these for several years now and giving them as gifts...Everyone who see's them falls in love with them and they are so easy to make...When I can find one I use a rose scented votive to put in it.

I do something similar - but my rose petals are closer to the top and you keep one rose bud to put in the opening. It looks like one big rose. Then I fill it with potpourri or one of the little battery operated tea light candles. You can "hide" neat stuff inside it and it looks just like a big rose.
Easy to make and so pretty.

I have made these before! They turned out really pretty, too. I even taught a bunch of boy scouts how to make them for a friend of mine. They made them for a Mother's Day gift.
