Hello Charlotte. I hope this helps and that you and your son have an enjoyable Christmastogether with his family.
Sue :)

Thank you for inviting me
to spend Christmas with you
every day is a blessing
at the age of ninety-two.
I'm sure I've made mistakes
but my love always was strong
so I pray I'll be forgiven
if you feel I've done you wrong.
For family is so important
and I hold you in my heart
hoping to spend time together
instead of another year apart.

Sue, I think your poem hits the nail on the head. The one I wrote just bubbled out so I'll go ahead and post it...it's different but it may be usable for someone else too:

Of all the things I’ve done in life
The ones I most regret
Are things that may have hurt someone
I love but then forget
I realize as the years go on
I want to make amends
To clear the air and thus return
To happiness again
I hope that you’ll forgive me now
And let me start anew
Not just for the holidays
But into the new year too!

Jennifer yours is beautiful too. I'm so glad you posted as I'm sure someone will find comfort and hope in your words - you never know who is lurking and whose heart you might be touching.

thanks crissy!!!! Charlotte...we'll say an extra prayer for you that your son's heart would be softened and open to working through or getting past whatever it is that is bothering him...Jen
