Subject: 'Charming' Ideas......
When I was at the dollar store the other day, they had these cute wine glass charms, 6 for $1. The 'charms' were colorful rubber & were on plastic rings that had been cut so they could slip around the stem of a glass or the handle of a coffee cup. (Never thought of that!)
I was thinking of making my own for our next family party - Fourth of July. Beads & patriotic shapes from shrink plastic. Cutting the ring will have to be an experimental process, but I have this cutting tool from Sears that I use for cutting my craft sticks, etc.
Also, I saw this idea but can't remember where. Someone had put a charm in one of the finger holes in the handle of their scissors for easy identification. What a great idea! I took a large, vinyl-coated paperclip (about 1 1/2") & straightened it out. Then I formed it around a paint pen. I had to use needle nose pliers to bend the ends. It made about 3 rounds, which I slipped onto one of my scissors. Then I put on one of the charms from the dollar store. No mistaking my scissors for someone else's!
This is fantastic for when scrapbookers are sharing supplies; at a quilting or sewing gathering; or just to mark the fabric only scissors from the paper ones.
Crafters who do beading can surely come up with some more unique decorating ideas. The sky is the limit - use old jewelry; old key rings; old keys; pet tags; etc.
I just remembered that I have a bunch of those toys that were so popular several years ago. You hooked them on a necklace or something - made from bright plastic & some had small bells on them.
At any rate, I thought it was a charming idea. LOL
