A note from Caboobie: Ladies, I have added all the info you have shared with us and you will probably notice that your name is in purple. I thought it would help to see names if they were in a different colour. I also put the name you post under in brackets. If I have any of this wrong please feel free to let me know via the voy board and I'll change it asap.

Subject: OT Post a Little bit About Yourself

I know we complain about a lot of OT's but thought that maybe this would be a good time to introduce ourselves to the newbies on the board and to tell a little bit about ourselves. So I guess since I'm the one that started this thread then I should be the one that goes first huh? lol

Karen (Krafteekaren)

I'm the owner/moderator of this craft forum on Voy., I didn't start the board, Shirley, orginally started it and then two years ago ask if I would take the board over, which I accepted. Shirley had very big shoes to fill and at times I'm not sure that I have filled them but I do the best that I possibly can. With the wonderful ladies on this board, running it is pretty easy or I'm use to it now, lol.

I'm a full time college student going into the field of Digital Media (fancy name for Web Designer) which at times is difficult joggling school, home life, homework and the boards (this board as well as the Archive Board) but some how I manage to work it all in.

I just designed a new printable website for several of the ladies from the board named Crafty Images, to share their printables with all of you ladies. So far it seems to be a success with a few draw backs for those that have dialup. In the near future I have plans of designing another website that will be based on paid membership, I haven't worked out the details as yet, they are still on the drawing pad so to speak.

I've been married for 31 years this month to the same supportive man and we have 2 grown children (#1 son is 28, DD is 26) and one that thinks he is grown (a BIG 14). Before any of you say...AHHH a change of life baby....nope...we adopted him at birth when the older children were 14 and 12. They have helped raise him just as we have. I thought our life was complete with the other two but he just changed our life to perfect.

Until two years ago I would have never thought that anything could change our lives. My DH lost his job of 30 years due to lay offs, my Mom passed away from a sudden heart attack and then we lost 15 of Mom's family members between August and April of the next year. It was hard to answer the phone because of fear that bad news was on the other end.

We recently moved my Dad in with us as his health wasn't as good as it could be and he felt it was time. Since he has moved in with us, his health has improved, I feel mainly due to being lonely without Mom and living 900 miles away from us. On the first day of school they always ask a little bit about many years we have been many kids...etc. I always say that I've been married for 30 years and have 5 children...which I really get odd looks then. Of course they have to ask their ages...79 (my Dad), 50 (DH), 28 (#1 son), 26 (DD) and 14 (#2 son). That always gets a laugh from the class but at times I feel that I am the mother of all 5 of them, lol.

Okay now that you know probably way too much about myself and about you?

Patty (Patty WV)

Well for starters I live in WV.
My name is Patty. I've been married to the same great guy(Ronnie)
for 30+ years. We have two grown children. (DD)Tina and Jim are expecting their first child in January(doc says a girl). (DS)Lee and his wife Jody have two beautiful daughters. Anna(5) and Abigail(7 months).

I enjoy doing crafts and surfing the net,as well as finally learning my "Print Master" program.

I babysit for my neighbor during the day,but not daily. I also go to another neighbors at 5:00am weekdays to get her daughter off to school after Mom goes to work. Life is busy and happy.....

Mary (Mary)

OK - I'll be brave and post next. I live in eastern Kansas - home of the KU Jayhawks!

I just celebrated my 42nd wedding anniversary to the greatest guy who spoils me rotten. I tell everyone I treat him like a Greek god - I give him a burnt offering everyday. We have four children (two boys and 2 girls) and 9 grandchildren.

I love doing crafting thanks to a friend of mine who got me hooked about 5 years ago. I'm not very good, but I keep my projects simple.

I work for a major university as an Administrative Specialist (fancy name for secretary).

I enjoy the craft board and the help everyone is so quick to give.

GramaDee (GramaDee)

Hello from Kansas!
My name is Dee and my DH is Steven. He's an electrical tech, I'm a retired dental lab tech. A friend owns a small private club and once in a blue moon I play bartender for her.

I have 5 grandsons(no girls!) but do have 2 nieces I can dot on and spoil:o)

I wanted to keep this I'll say "bye~bye" now!

Sharlet (Sharlet)

I am recently retired from the State of Missouri where I worked in our County Circuit Clerk's Office. The State offered incentives for those eligible to retire and I thought 'Why not?' Am so glad that I did because I totally enjoy it. I never knew what it was like to actually have time for everything.

Most of the crafting I do is needlework, enjoy counted cross-stitch, plastic canvas, crocheting, quilting (just learning this), primitive stitchery and am trying my best to learn how to knit. Am not doing too well with it though.

I also like taking walks, writing (I belong to the ChemoAngels and Soldiers' Angels programs in which I send notes and/or cards weekly), collecting angels, love to read. Oh yeah, and I am a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. GO CARDINALS!!!! :)

This is an awesome board, the people are so, so wonderful, and I count myself fortunate to be a small part of it.

Their mother passed away over three years ago and Roger and I met on the internet on a dating site. Roger is disabled and we do wood crafts together. I do a little bit of everything else but sew......I can't! LOL! Guess that's about it, except to welcome all the newbies. You'll love it here. hugs, Lisa ;^)

Hugs, katieangelamber

Carol (Carol B or Shirttails)

Yes, there are two of US!!!! I live in the USA, the other, I believe lives in Australia. (can't recall) Changed over to my other name, shirttails....that's because I'm always coming or going and the neighbor only sees the shirttails. :)

I live in Illinois but am moving, not far from Jazbo. I live on the north/central border of Arkansas near Bull Sholes or Lake Norfork.

I taught school (8 year olds) for 33 years and retired early with the state incentives being the reason for early retirement. I LOVED my job until the day I walked out. I also worked 4 more years for the school district teaching teachers in a Teacher Center....loved that place! It was a place to make and take things!!!!

Since I didn't teach any longer, I made crafts or copied ideas for my round-to-it projects. I have 3 craft shows a year in my town...working on some church bazaars now too.

My interests are sewing, plastic canvas, wood (just started the scroll saw), and simple this and that. I love sewing Barbie clothes. :)

Beach, Calif. Been in Kentucky about 38 years now.

2nd marriage will be 30 years in Nov. Have 3 girls and 1 son.2 girls and son live with in blocks from me.

My girls gave me the name craftymyrt because I like to make things only fast and easy tho. I can almost copy anything if I have a picture other wise its kind of hard for me to follow directions.

I am getting ready to turn the big 6 0 in Dec. My kids are so excited (not me) also Me and my husband Harold are going to renew our wedding vows in Nov. Our kids are so excited they are giving us a wedding. My preachers wife told me to stay out of it and let my kids do as they wished.

Oh boy! The Lord has been so wonderful to me and my family there is
so much more I could say but don't want to bore ya. This is a wonderful site I only write when I want something and someone always answers back. Never have heard anything hateful mean or anything else. Just wonderful possitive great people. Will help anyone in need of anything.

My love and thanks for all you workers do for me and everyone
else. We need to give credit more often. Again thank you so very very much. Love to you all in Jesus Love Myrtle/Myrt

Carol (CarolB or Yuppy,Yuppy or PossumOz)

I'm the other Carol B. (also seen around the internet as Yuppy, Yuppy_Au or PossumOz)

I live in Tailem Bend, South Australia. Born and raised in nearby Murray Bridge, South Australia.

DH Noel and I have been married for 17 years. We have one son Matthew who is 11. Noel has a daughter, Kelly from his previous marriage. Kelly is 21.

In a previous life I worked for the phone company, in many administrative or customer service roles, for 10 years.

I'm now a SAHM, even though Matthew has been at school for years. Noel is unemployed now too, and I really should get a part-time job, but I want something in school hours and in our town. I'm not fussy, eh?

I do sometimes do casual work for the electoral office. I work at and before elections and do field work. This year a friend and I spent 6 weeks driving up and down every street in 6 towns and recording what type of premises each street number was. (residence, block of flats, business, school, vacant lot, etc.) What a challenge!

I'm studying to be a Student Services Officer (teachers aide or school support staff) by correspondence and have been struggling with my studies this year.

I a Girl Guide for life! I joined at age 7 and never left. I currently am a Lone Guide Leader. Lones is for girls who cannot attend a regular Guide unit for any reason. Usually distance, but sometimes health, or lack of a Unit in her area. We have metropolitan members as well as country members. We do our Guiding by correspondence and other communication methods. It is certainly challenging to run a Guide meeting on paper.

I love all sorts of crafts, and am a bead-a-holic. Being a parent and Guide Leader, I tend to collect kids craft ideas too.

I've been frequently this board for several years and love that everyone is so friendly, caring and supportive.

Now back to your regularly scheduled transmission ...

Pauline (Pauline)

Hi from Massachusetts.

I am Pauline and have been married to Mel since 1971. We have two wonderful sons Michael 30 and David 25.

I am a hairdresser and makeup artist. I love making people feel beautiful. When people look good, they feel good.

My son Michael is getting married in January to a lovely girl named Elisabeth. David would like to hold out a little longer, altho I am sure his girlfriend would like to be married sooner than David. I am blessed that they both have wonderful girls in their lives.

Crafts are my sanity. When things get hectic and crazy, I know I can always relax at the computer or making crafts. I love sewing, paper crafts and making jewelry. I wish I had the patience to paint.

I love to travel, especially out to San Francisco to visit with Michael and my dad's family.

Another hobby is investing. I started three investment clubs after watching the Beardstown Ladies on tv. We learn about investing, socialize with a wonderful group of women and hope not to lose too much money.

I check VOY every chance I get trying not to miss a thing. Thank you Karen for making this such a successful site, and hugs to all the talented poets, artists and contributors. You give and give , we so appreciate your talent and the prompt way you come up with all the answers. Thank you.

Jude (Jude KS)

Hi, my name is Jude, actually Judy Ribbing.

I'm from SW Kansas, a small city called Garden City. We are about 50 miles north of the Yellow Brick Road, 50 miles east of Dodge City and 50 miles east of heaven (Colorado) - lol

I'm married 34 years to Larry. We have no children, just a very spoiled Brittany Spaniel named Ted E.

I have loved crafting all of my life and have done a little bit of about everything.

Now due to health problems and the failure of my sight, kind of restricted on what I can do. I love to sew, applique, and embellish clothing.
Especially vests, shirts and jumpers (denim ones of course!!!).

I love the Voy board - every one of the participants are earthbouhd angels - they have helped me so much over the past few years.

To all of the newbies - you have dropped into the most awesome, loving and caring site on the world wide web.

Welcome - Jude!

? (twinklenose)

Well, I'm Twinklenose.

Haven't posted a whole lot, but have been visiting here a year or so. You're all such a fabulous group of ladies, and it's amazing how well everyone gets along and is so willing to help and share.

I love to craft, do some sewing, collect recipes.

I'm married, mother to 3 sons, 4 cats, and have 2 grandkids. My oldest son is a freelance artist and stays busy illustrating horror stories, eek. He's married to a very sweet and loving young woman whose goal is to become a college art professor someday, so I imagine their little girl and little boy will have inherited some of their artistic abilities.:)

We live in E Tx.

Judy (Judy from GA)

I really like reading about everyone on here and hope I won't bore you with my line!!

My husband and I have been married for 37 years.

I am a stay at home mom too. We have 2 grown birth daughters, 5 grands between them and one on the way. Then we were foster parents and adopted 4 more children. They are now 18, 17, 13, and 10. Everyone says we are crazy for more or less starting over, but even with the bad times, it has been worth it. Until we adopted the last two,

I worked as a paraprofessional in the school system. Now that I am a sahm--I wish I could do that!! With 4 kids it is hard to stay at home--they all need to go somewhere all the time.

I have crafted for years and really enjoy finding all your ideas on the Voy. I run through the room and check emails and the Voy seems a hundred times a day!!

I have fallen in love with the compouter crafting and do some crochet and am learning to stamp and emboss things. I used to sew and make all the clothes that our two oldest daughters and I wore, but have lost the urge to sew much. Guess that is the major stuff, just glad to be here.

I am a wife, mother of 5, grandma to 12 (one set of twins).

I am an office manager.

My hubby and I love riding on our Harley (thus the HD in my screen name).

I love all kinds of crafts. I crochet, sew, do flower, papercrafts, beading. You name it, if I like the looks of it I am pretty willing to try it! I have really enjoyed the swaps here and getting to know others.

I love doing all sorts of crafts, and I definately love this board.

My family and I love horse back riding, fishing, and even racing anything from watching nascar to my hubby hobby of dirt track racing.

I guess you would say we are all just good ole country folk. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Carolyn (crafterwannabe)

I’m Carolyn and live in southern New Jersey with my husband of 39 years where we both enjoy retirement.

After working and being away from our home 12 hours a day for over 30 years (but loved it), I am grateful every day that I am getting to experience life in the slower lane. It’s another whole life I never knew existed!

We have 10 grands, ages 2 to 17, and they can make us feel young and very old all in the same day (young early in the day – old by nightfall!). All our granddaughters love crafting when they are here and I’m now challenged to come up with ideas they will like as they become older. It was SO easy when they were younger. We also bake together, another favorite thing I like to do. Except for things for and with the grands,

I’m primarily a seasonal crafter, making items that an adult day care center can sell inexpensively at their annual Christmas bazaar. While I will occasionally tackle a challenging project (for me), I like quick & easy projects and those that combine a little computer crafting - if only in doing toppers or tags. I also love reading, almost any kind of music and am an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.

I’m thankful for all our Voy friends who unselfishly share their many creative ideas, poems and so many links to interesting crafting projects. I’m one of the archivers and we are so glad we have a place to save all the wonderful poetry and ideas. Thank you, Karen!

Connie (evitalouise)

Hi to all the newbies and everyone here.

I live in central PA. I just turned 65 and have been married to a wonderful man for 45 years oh he was wonderful until he retired and became head housekeeper LOL Now it seems I don't know how to do anything around the house right anymore! Who does he think done it all those years? Well that is OK gives me more time to do my crafting, let him do the housework LOL.

I have 3 grown children 2 boys 39 and 24 1 girl 42 and 2 grandchilren 22 and 20 and yes we just became great grandparents in August to a dear baby boy I can hardly believe it where did all those years go?

I got familiar with the computer when I retired 8 years ago due to a downsizing. I bought a computer so I could learn how they functioned and then find another job. Trust me when I learnedhow the computer worked the job went by the wayside LOL

I was a communuty leader at iVillage for 7 years leading a food chat each week and hosting two bulletin boards. I finally got burnt out with that and as that was winding down I found the Voy and have been addicted to it every since!

I joined here as CJ my nickname from my dh, but there was another CJ so then I took up the nickname as evitalouise which I used at iVillage for many years and has been teasingly called by my family when they need a recipe or have a cooking question.

I check in several times a day never have much to offer, but find many projects here through my cyber sisters for that I am thankful. I just love this board and everyone here. All the gals are so friendly, kind and helpful and caring. It is like one big wonderful happy family here. I don't think there is another forum where the people are so close.

I am an avid recipe collector. I own over 400 cookbooks and still adding to my collection daily. I clip recipes from magazine and print from the computer daily. I just love the recipe swaps we have been having. It is so much fun to collect the recipes, but the decorated cards are a definite plus to the swap, too. I am in the process of making a recipe scrap book for my granddaughter as a surprise ....hoping to get it done soon, but keep getting sidetracked on other projects LOL

Well guess I ranted on long enough, time to give someone else a turn.

Laurene (Laurene)

This is a fun thread. Love this board! Well here goes.

I live in SW Wisconsin and am a HUGE GB Packer fan!!

I love to craft, sew, read, and fish.

I have a wonderful husband of 23 years who spoils me rotten(especially now since he is retired)

I have 3 grown kids(41-38-and 33) and a son with my current hubby who is 22. He is still at home as he works just down the street. We have 7 grands ranging from 20 years to 10 months. They all love to craft with me. The oldest is a sophomore at UW LaCrosse and is on the football team. His dream is to someday play proball. Three of the other grands are musicians..guitar, piano, drums, trumpet, clarinnet and violin. The four middle grands love to come and go fishing with grandma & grandpa.

I haven't worked since my youngest was born and have done a ton of volunteer work over the years. I also teach Sunday School and find so many ideas on this board for my class.

I also want to say thank you to Karen for all the work she does on this board and also to all the great poets and everyone who does toppers ect. for all of us. After that loooong sentence I will shut up and give someone else a chance to tell about themselves. Hugs, Laurene

Sue (jacksmum)

I'm Sue from Australia.

I'm 41 and although I'm not very good when it comes to crafts I love this site and often help with the poem requests.

I'm a stay at home mum, happily married for 21 years to Tony and we have two terrific teens - Mandy (17) and David (15) and a five year old Border collie called Jack who thinks he is our 3rd child - hence my screen name - jacksmum.

I'm enjoying reading about you all. I've been with this site since Shirley first put it together and have made some wonderful friends with some of you here - LOL I even got my Mum addicted to the Voy. :)

If you'd like to see pics of me and my family please visit our site:

Connie (connie G)

I found this board last christmas. This board has been a HUGE blessing to me. After our little guy past away I could not sleep. I somehow stumbled on this board and now I am addicited to crafts.

I love trying all the fun ideas on the board! I love doing the swaps! I am teaching myself to crochet! Best part I am sleeping and dreaming again.

I have been married 19 years and we have 6 kids Triston 18 Brittany 16 JOhn Michael 11 Sevrin 8 Ethan would be 5 this year and Ellie is 4.

We just moved to Mo. We sold our home and used the equity to buy a small home on 2 acres in a little town called shook. For those of you from Mo. it is close to popular bluff. We came here seeking better employment. My husbands business was doing very well and 911 hit and we lost everything and have been struggling since. He just started a new job in St.Louis we are crossing our fingers we can finally get ahead! Connie G

Carol (Carol Klee or Kettle)

May I jump in? My name is Carol Klee.

There are so many Carol's, that's why I use my full name. aka kettle_42. A friend called me that when I was a youngster and I took it as my handle because Carol didn't work.

I have a DH of 41 years and 4 awesome kids, DD 40, DS 38, DD 36, and DS 35. Kept me busy for quite a few years.

I went to work full time when they all graduated. The doctor said I had empty nest syndrome. HAHA. I have always had one of them here. In fact, I have my oldest GS, 21 who is living with me now. I have 8 grandkids and 1 on the way (middle of October).

I just retired after 17 1/2 years as janitor/custodian at our local school system. My DH retired in Feb. of this year from a local chemical company. Now its time to fix up our 180 year home.

As for crafts, I like to do embroidery, sewing, but my favorite is making dolls.

I work all year supporting Relay For Life with my DL and DS.

I found this site about 3 years ago and have been hooked ever since. There is the nicest, friendliest group of ladies I have met. I love sharing recipes and swaps with all of you.

Thank you Shirly for getting us started and Karen for all your great work. Boy, can I talk. Will let some one else have a turn.. LOL Carol Klee

Sondra (Sondra)

Hi ! My name is Sondra and I am from Wichita, Kansas

Warren and I have been married for 39 years. We have one daughter who is 38 and a son who is 28 and a son who will be forever 17 ( he died in an accident in 1987 ) We have 2 grandsons...16 & 2 and one granddaughter 14.

I used to own my own fact, two business a ceramic shop and a large gift store/craft mall. Due to some health problems I had to give up both in Sept. of '03. That's when I really got hooked on the computer.
I absolutely love computer crafting.

I am so lucky to be a part of the Crafty Images Printable website.

I also have a group of ladies that I automatically e-mail every printable I make. It's wonderful being able to make and share what I love doing.

When I sold my business I thought I'd invest in an embroidery machine and try my hand at that. I really like working with it and have made lots on it but am hooked on the computer crafts.

I watched this group quite awhile before I ever posted on it and found the ladies here to be so kind to each other and so quick to help. I truely believe everyone on this board cares about each other. I am a member on other boards but find this one to be my very favorite. It is a fast moving board with everyone so willing to help one another. When preyers are needed everyone always comes thru. Each and everyone of you is truly a Godsend.
Now, Back to work....

Linda (Sassy)

Howdy from TEXAS!

My name is Linda(57 years old) and I live in San Antonio with my husband, Jerry...I moved here in '91 from South Carolina.
We have 4 grown children..2 boys..both live in Phoenix and 2 daughters who both live in Columbia S.C. Our oldest daughter has a son that is the apple of my eye. He's 7 now and I think he is about perfect!(Now I am sounding like a Grandma).

I enjoy sewing, machine embroidery and now I love crafting more than ever since I found this board. It is really addicting.

I do lots of things at our church to help with the senior group there. They are all so appreciative for anything that is done for them.

We have a little Maltese dog that we call our baby son. He has never known that he is a dog and I would never tell him. He sits on my lap when I am at the computer and thinks he is suppose to be there as long as I am. I have the little dog notifier for my e-mail and when we are sitting at the computer and new mail comes in and he sees the little dog, he gets so excited!

I really enjoy VOY and look forward to seeing everyone's posts each day. I have really just started with computer crafting and hope that one day I will be able to share as much as the rest of you talented ladies.

That's about it for me. I enjoy reading about all of you. Thanks for all your help.

Judy (Judy R)

Hi, I'm another Judy..

I have been married for 48 years, It doesn't seem possible that I am that old.

We have 5 kids. 4 boys, 1 spoiled girl..35 years old and still spoiled. We have 14 grands, and 5 greats. Some of the kids, grands, and greats were aquired by birth, some by adoption, and some by marriage, we always joke because we can never remember which ones are which.

I retired from nursing 2 1/2 years ago due to Fibromyalgia, my hubby has retired several times and keeps going back to work. Not me tho, I love retirement. We are both cancer survivers, we love the Lord, and put all of our trust in Him.

I love crafting of any kind. I guess next to crafting, I love shopping for craft supplies, I love bargains. maybe that's why DH has to keep going back to And along with shopping and crafting,

I love the Voy. First thing in the morning, and last thing at night. If you don't check it at least twice a day, you will surely miss something.

Guess I better stop and give someone else a chance. Thanks to Karen and all the poets, I feel like I know all of you personally. Oh yes, by the way, I am from San Bernardino, California, if you are ever in the area, look me up. my door is always open, and the pot is always on. Hugs, Judy

Pat (Pat J)

Hi everyone,

I am from Crowley, Louisiana and lived in New Orleans for 17 years. I have been married to a great man for 34 years, Al and we have 3 children, Donnie, age 37, working at NikiTown in New York city, but lives on the Hudson in West New York, New Jersey,a daughter, Chris,34,(yes,I had 2 children out of wedlock)she owns a vintage clothing and jewelry store in Vancouver, Washington. She was an audiologist, but wasn't happy, but now my little flower child is happy and Jonathan, age 31,married to Heidi and they have 2 children, Jacob, 9 and Theresa 4. Heidi has 2 semesters left before she will be a registered nurse.

My husband and I are both 56 and he is a postal employee and I am a former postal employee. I am a SAHW who is unable to work because of health problems brought on by a severe staph infection. Lots of you know about this and I won't go into it.

For 2 weeks now, we have had an extended family living here due to Hurricane Katrina. I was in Kenner when the hurricane was coming because I was awaiting a much needed surgery.

I came to this group over 4 years ago and although I don't post as often as I would like, I try to help out with printable when I see request.

I love to craft and do just about anything, but right now my passion is paper crafts.

I have a 17 year old cat, Max who thinks he owns this house, but he saved us from almost death 2 years ago because of a gas leak in our house.

I love getting to know everyone here and Karen and the others have done a great job and I think she has filled Shirley's shoes well---so when Cinderalla had to take off her slipper, Karen fit them to a tee

After one of my surgeries, my daughter gave me her computer to have something to do while I was recuperating and I went from not knowing how to turn it on, to learning psp, because of a dear Sweet person here, SueP(jacksmum)

I have to tell you how this came about. I was doing a memorial scrapbook for my deceased boyfriend's family and Sue did a wonderful job, superimposing his picture on a flag and writing a poem. This group has kept me from depression (15 surgeries in 4 years) on many nights. Y

You are all truly angels of the crafting kind. Hugs, Pat

Donna (Donna)

Hi Ladies! My name is Donna and I live in Iowa.

I work 3 days a week as a nurse in a nursing home. Of course those 3 days are always Friday, Saturday & Sunday. But thats okay because I'm not into Sports and it gives me an excuse not to visit with family at reunions.LOL.

I have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. Two of my kids live on the east coast but my youngest lives in the same town that I am in.

I love all kinds of crafts. I do have a problem though, because if I find a sale I buy. Even if I don't need it, I'll buy it because someday I might need it. Anyone else out there have this type of problem?

I truly love this site. It is wonderful with truly exceptional people. Everyone is willing to share ideas and helpful information when you need it. I love coming here.

Doreen (Doreen)

Hello, I'm Doreen from Malta, (Europe).

My DH and I have been married for 27 years and we have 2 lovely children, a 19yr old daughter and a 15-yr old son living with us and a sweet angel, our first born who will always be our baby in heaven. We lived in Canada for over 10 years and have re-settle (well, kind of!) in Malta again.

I've been on this board since February and I'd like to welcome all the newbies. Since joining I've never looked back, yes I have been warned and I'll pass the warning on to you - this board is addictive!!!

I am one of the resident poets here, love doing all kinds of crafts especially painting on glass, decoupage, paper crafts, recyling and computer stuff.

I am always on the look out to try out new things. Oh, right now I have, as Jazbo calls it, Angelina Scrapitis - cutting and making scrap angels has been my last craze for days!!! LOL!

I also love to do voluntary work and am involved in our Parish community work.
Hope you will all enjoy the Voy as much as I have. God bless you all, dear friends and thank you all who have made me feel so welcome.

Doreen :)

Katie (Katie)

Hello to everyone from Ontario,Canada.....

Worked in hospitals as a dietician all my working life.

Retired many years ago and took up crafting.

Have sold many crafts at shows and shops as well as selling privately. Like everyone else I also give lots of crafts away. Have tried most crafts but polymer clay and crochet are my favorites.

Have been with this forum since it started and even before.

My 5 children are grown and I now have 5 grandchildren.

Due to poor health, don't post much anymore but still try to visit this great place frequently.

My real name is Kathleen so it was easy to come up with katie.

Great bunch of people on this board and my personal thanks to all who work so hard in the background.

Cathy (Cathy in MT)

A cowboy welcome from Montana. My name is Cathy and I reside in Billings one of the largest cities in Montana so that's how I came up with the name. as in a little Birdie

I am a substitute teacher and hope to be tutoring soon as well. I used to teach Elementary, Special Education and Chapter Reading but came back to MT to help my disabled Mom so she could stay in her own home.

I have a pekinese mix named Oreo who helps me craft by laying on anything that is on the floor.

I like to do counted cross stitch (small projects) especially with beads, scrap angels (jazbo and I were the ones who originated the idea after my Mom got one when whe was in the hospital)but I blame jazbo so if you're addicted talk to her, not me! I also like to adapt most any kind of clay pot and pom pom craft projects seen around and I embelish small bears.

I don't do many shows anymore but enjoy going to the shows and snagging ideas for gifts. Currently involved in making scrap angels for the hurricane victims in LA now residing in TX. New to the forum but love the ideas and love to share and ask questions as everyone is so helpful to a computer crafts dummie! I am also addicted to garage sales! Signing off for now, Cathy

Dina (tadpolesgrannie)

Hi, I'm Dina. I go by "tadpolesgrannie" because my little tadpole (29 yr old son)unexpectedly made me a grannie 6 yrs ago. She is the light of our life. My daughter (31) had a baby girl 18 months ago and we had a fantastic shower, with a gift bag full of stuff from this board, not to mention the poem on the gift bag and each item in it! Thanks you guys you are all wonderful!

I'm from Texas :-) although I never lived there, and was the first generation born in CA. We never went on "real" vacations, just back to TX to visit the farm and family (West TX: Anson, Morton and Throckmorton) I was always told growing up, "If your from TX you don't need to be from anywhere else!"

Anyway, born and raised in CA, moved to the southwest desert-St. George, Utah 5 years ago for "our life part 2". We are 2 hours away from Las Vegas, 6 hours from parents and 10 hours from children. We downsized and started over- leaving the California lifestyle behind.

We're living our hearts desire. I teach K, my husband quit his job and is a golf pro...I'm in CA every spare minute to see my little grand-girls.

I love this board and all of your talent!

I forgot to say that I'm turning 50 next month, and we're having a 50's party. Currently my project is making matching poodle skirt outfits for the g-girls and I, and a coordinating one for DD.

My ongoing project for the last 1 1/2 years has been growing my hair long. At my party the girls will cut my pony tail off, put it in an envelope and we are donating it in their names to a childrens charity that makes wigs for children with cancer. My dad's a hairdresser, so he'll give me a cute stylish cut and boy am I ready for it...I'm young at heart but feel too old for all this hair, expecially in the desert heat. My head's getting sore from pins and wearing it up all the time ;-)

Sometime soon I'll be ready to tackle the party details and be asking for help. I loved the can ideas you all came up with and have been force feeding my wonderful supportive hubby LOTS of canned pineapple because the lid is a flip top and will be easy for the kids to open at the party!

Frankie (Frankie, Fla)

Hello, and yes, Frankie is my real name. I live in the Tampa-St Pete area. My DH and I have been married for 51 years and have four grown children, six grandchildren.

My first love is painting watercolors, but I also enjoy doing other crafts--from doll making to rubber stamps to quilling to you name it. Haven't tried Altered books yet, but am thinking about it. Has anyone here done one?

I also enjoy visiting here at the Voy and interacting with all the great members. I visit every day, sometimes several times a day, just to see what's new. Really enjoy all the picture post. Thanks to everyone for making this a wonderful place to spend time.

Lilian (o dear)

Hi Ladies,

I live in Australia. I got the name o dear when I lost my husband and I kept saying "o dear".nearly 6 years on and its still stuck.

I am Sue's (Jacksmum) Mum . I am 70 years old. Wish I could say she gets her talents from me but her poetry is just a natural gift God has given her.

Missy (Crafty43)

My name is Missy and I live in Northern Maine. Have been married for 22 years(next week)and have one son who is 17 and a Senior in High School. Ooops, I do have another son. His name is Buddy and he is 5 years old and all puppy!

I work full time as an Office Manager and love to craft! I am a 12 year Breast Cancer Survivor. I consider this my second home, maybe my first some days. Happy Crafting!

Tricia (Cougar11)

My name is Tricia (aka -Cougar1).

I was the one who won "Messiest Craft Room" a few years back...DO NOT EVEN THINK about asking me how it is now LOL...well actually it's a lot better and I have gotten quite a few drawer units and am working on making it more organized. Just takes time in between working to get it done.

I live in Lebanon, Missouri, 2 hours NE of Jazbo and a little more than that SE of Sharlet, on I-44. I was married to Lonnie 21 years 4 mos when he died in '92. We have 4 sons and I now have 7 grandkids. Not sure where my third son is...he was suppose to be shipped to Afghanistan but haven't heard if he was or not or where he has Corinne and the kids staying...they have their phone shut off. Second son is checking for me.

I earned my First Responder certificate while I lived in another town 30 miles from here and it kept me quite busy on the call outs. The Lord must have thought I needed someone new (I sure wasn't looking LOL) so he sent me Steve 5 years ago in May when I worked here as an inspector for the city water department where he was, but it took Steve 3 months before he could get the nerve to talk to me LOL...we will be married 5 years in December.

We like to ride our motorcycles (I like travelling a lot more than he does). He is more of a stay at home computer person and I like to get out and see things and meet people.

I started learning to sew and cook when I was 8 and making things out of other stuff, then after I was married I got into trying other crafts. I like working with beads, and I also knit, but I am no good with paper...I always say I flunked paper in first grade (can't say kindergarten...they didn't have that way back then LOL).

We now only have one cockatiel, 3 cats and one dog (my other dog Sheila died last month). My third cat is now 4 months old...I raised her from the day after she was born when her mother died and she was suppose to go to a family member when she got weaned, but they decided after two days of having her that they didn't really want a cat or want to take the time to mess with it so she came back home to me (although it did not thrill my husband...don't really care...the animals are mine and I am keeping them). Wait till he finds out I am looking for another small pom LOL.

I have learning a lot from this site and these wonderful people. Sometimes I don't get to get on here much but I try when I can.

I work at a vet clinic as a vet assistant and take care of the kennels also...get lots of compliments about how clean and nice it is kept (I am very particular about how they are done when I am not there also). One guy said he had never been in a kennel that didn't smell like a kennel...I said Thank You! Only bad thing about working there is you always want to keep the animals that come through LOL...where do you think my Hershey and Naava came from LOL. I'm not piggish...I only took two LOL. Well, enough rambling. If I have forgotten anything you want to know, just ask LOL. ~Tricia

Judy (Judyw)

Well another Judy here

I am 53 and I have a wonderful husband of 37 years ,James. We have 3 wonderful sons,35,33,and 27. We have 2 beautiful grands Janie(3) and her brother Andy(1).We also have a GS coming anytime now. Corey James.

I have been here a little over 3 years now and I love this board. It is the first thing I open in the morning and the last thing I close at night

I love computer crafting and I just started dabbling in machine embroidering.

I worked for 22 years as a elementary school cafeteria assistant manager.I quit 3 years ago to keep my GD and when GS came it was to much for me to handle so I went back to work (same cafeteria) Part time.

We live in Smyrna Tennessee . About 25 miles south of Nashville

Doreen (Doreen G)

I am Doreen G and I am from (little)Rhode Island. I just turned 50 in May and recently celebrated 15th anniversary to my husband Joel. We have 2 children- Mark, who is 14 and Sarah, who is 12. I am also the proud mom of 3 German Shepherds (they are my babies)!

I am a "seasoned" special education resource teacher. Years ago I thought I would be neartly retired at this point but I started my family late and I need to plan for my kids' education.

This school year my job changed and I will be doing diagnostic work only (testing) and not really teaching. I have mixed feelings about not really teaching anymore. I have taught since my early 20s.

My husband (47) recently started a second career as a Math teacher. He took 3 years out of working to study. It killed us financially but he is happy and we are not sorry because he loves it.

My husband and I recently were appointed to be co-chairs (with a few others) of our church bazaar.

I found this board this summer when I was web-surfing for bazaar ideas and have been addicted ever since. I spent a lot of time here during the summer but am back to work now and have less time now...

I do mostly crafts using my computer and some counted cross stitch. I also love to cook.

I guess one of my talents is finding "stuff" on the internet. My dh calls me the "internet queen". I always try to do a search when someone is iso something.

Nice to hear everyone's background info...

Jeanne (JeaneB)

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jeanne, I will soon be 63 and I live in SE Colorado. Recently divorced and trying hard to get used to living alone.

Right now my youngest sister is staying with me till she decides what to do with her life. I got her crafting and now she loves it. We just do small, easy things.

I am not inventive at all, so love trying some of the things that others come up with. I just really started crafting about 2 yrs ago and there is still so much I would like to learn. Sondra has been such a great help in helping me learn to do the tile magnets, I would like to say a big thanks to her.

I have 5 children of my own and a step-son, although I never call him a "step" son as I raised him from the time he was 8. His mother died when he was 6 and his dad and I married in 1980. and after 25 yrs, we called it quits.

I have 6 grand children, with 3 of them living in the Denver area and the rest living in a suburb of Chicago. So, I don't get to see any of them very often, even tho I am only 150 miles from Denver, it seems that the kids and grand kids are always busy doing something.

I found this board several months ago by accident and the evening I found it, I could not stop reading the posts and even went to the archives and read and went to the crafting archives and it was after 2AM when my eyes just wouldn't stay open any longer. But when I got up the next morning, I was right back reading again. I love this site, everyone is more than willing to help you with anything you need, if it is in their knowledge to do so.

Happy crafting to one and all.

Hi ladies,

My name is Karen and I am 56 years old. I live in Ohio and just celebrated my 37th anniversary.

I have a daughter (35) and a son (31). I am the proud grandmother of 5, 4 GD's and 1 GS. Right now I babysit the two youngest GD's and they keep me busy, but I love every minute of it.To me there isn't anything better than being a grandparent.

Things have been rough for us for the past year. My DH lost his job of 21 years due to plant closing and his health is not good.

I have been a lurker here for about a year. I found this site by accident and immediately became addicted.

I really look forward to checking out the board every night, it helps me keep my sanity LOL.

I have gotten alot of crafty ideas from many talented ladies here, and hopefully will soon have more time to spend on them.
What surprised me most about this board is, you all are like one big family. Along with all the talent, is the many caring and loving people here. You are all willing to lend an ear or help in anyway you can.

I would like to thank Karen and all the other ladies for all of their talent and hard work in keeping this board running so smoothly. Keep up the good work! God Bless.

Hugz to all

Jan (Jan in Phoenix)

Hi, I am Jan, and another that just pops in once in a while.

I am single, 54, have two grown kids over 30 and two grandkids - girls I love to craft with.

I am a architectural designer for a school district and construction project manager for buildings. I check the site out on my breaks.

I've gotten so many ideas from this site and want you all to know how wonderful it is to read about your care, prayers and giving to others. Sometimes I just read to know there are others with just as many problems in their lives, that I am not alone and how we can help each other in some small way by this site. May you all be blessed each and every day.

Gwen (fairgrammie)

Hi, My name is Gwen, live in Weiser, Idaho I'm 64 years old and have been married 42 years to a guy I started the first grade with.

Linda (Lin'a)

My name is Linda, but I go by Lin'a on the voy.

I live in Northern California with my husband of 16 years.

I enjoy most types of crafts, beading, x-stitch, scrapbooking, miniatures and just plain ol' crafting in general. I have recently started taking some "One-Stroke" painting classes and I love it.

Debbie (dutchie)

Hello All,

My Name is Debbie, but because there so many creative Debs, I use the name Dutchie for swaps and stuff.

I live in New York with my Hubby of 20 yrs. We just renewed our wedding vows last week. I have 5 kids (my baby is turning 20, but they are still my "kids) I have 7 wonderful grands. The youngest 2 year old twin redheads boys!

I haven't been on the Voy very long, but I absolutely love the people and the ideas. After lurking a bit I joined the Flower and red white and blue swaps. I have never had so much fun. The idea of trading with 20 gals per swap seemed overwhwelming. I looked in the archives (another great part of Voy) to see what types of goodies had been sent before. It was so inspiring and fun.

I am no longer able to work due to health and this was a wonderful way to get a feel for what crafts were out there. I then joined a couple of recipe swaps and was hooked there too. Everyone doesn't have the same budget, talent or time, but every effort is not judged-except with the love of crafts and respect for fellow crafters.

I thank God each day that I have access to this great forum. I have learned so much and laughed and cried with the greatest gals on the web.

I emailed KrafteeKaren in the beginning and no matter how busy, she always took the time to answer any dumb question with her swiftness and style.

I hope to see you in the swaps and thank you all for being here in cyberspace.

Cindy (Cindy E)

Hi my name is Cindy.

I just turned 40 on Sunday and am feeling great! except that when
I went to renew my license two days ago, they are now listing my hair as grey even though I think there is more brown than grey! Oh well, life moves on.

My hubby and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary in October. We have two sons, 16 and almost 14. We live in Central Alberta, Canada, and love it here. We homeschool our sons and have done so for the past 12 years. The oldest is finishing grade 12 in June.

My main hobby is crochet but I also like sewing, country tole painting and quilting. I have also done cross stitch and tried many other crafts at least once.

Tona (Tona)

I'm 54 and have been married to the same man for 35 years. Like everyone else, we have had our ups and downs but more ups than downs. At this point I don't think I'll trade him off. We have 3 grown sons--oldest will be 32 in one week, then 2nd will be 30 in Nov, youngest will be 26 in March. He was my birthday baby. The 2nd is married to a wonderful woman and we all proudly adopted her son, Brad who will be 12 on Dec. 1st. The kids will have their 3rd ann. this week.

I have always enjoyed doing crafts of many kinds. I also knit, crochet and sew. Right now, except for the swaps, I am mainly sewing, making quilts for our soldiers in Iraq for Quilts with Love. It's one of the most fulfilling things I've ever done and have met some of the mmost wonderful people at our yearly sew-ins.

I really enjoy coming to the voy and seeing what everyone is doing and what is going on around the world. It has been a wonderful adventure right at my fingertips. I feel I know everyone and count you all as my friends.

Wanda (Wanda)

Good Evening everyone ; my name is Wanda and Karen tells me to just introduce myself and that I won't feel like a newbie for long.

I've been crafting for more than 25 years ;first year in a long time that I haven't been involved in a Craft Show Season ........seems strange. But for me crafting is as necessary as breathing ,so I'll still be crafting whether I'm at a show or not .

I live in Nova Scotia ,Canada and have been very busy with pickling, and preserving as it's Harvest time down here .Hubby is a trucker ,and between us we have 3 children and 7 grandchildren (so far).

If someone could explain to me how to post scans of my work I'd be delighted to show you all some of the things I do .

Hopefully I can share some ideas with some of you as well as learn some new things too.Well I can't think of anything more to add , excepts ,please ask me any questions you want....I'm much better at answering questions than trying to write an intro : o)

Three kids: A son Nickolas (24) graduated from College last may and has a really good job now, or so he says. A daughter Tammy (22) working and also helping on her boyfriends farm and his parents farm. She is supposed to get married but not sure when they don't have time so she still lives here at home. I also have a son Tyler (18) a senior in High School.

I do alterations for people and that keeps me pretty busy as I am the only one for miles that does it.

I'm a pretty simple gal !

I love the Holiday season with all the lights and decorations and I'm quite partial to Snowmen :))
Oh.. I should also mention we have two cats that adopted us a few years ago, someone dropped them off on our property and we decided to keep them... 1 for each kid. Freckles and Frosty... they've given ALOT of entertainment ! We love them dearly!

I have only been computer crafting for 2 years now. I am so lucky to be a part of this wonderful group.

Nancy in Mo.

Kimberley (Kimberley)

My name is Kimberly. I am 32 soon to be 33 in a couple of weeks.

My husband and I just celebrated our 10th Anniversary last month. I was born and raised in Nebraska but recently moved to Oklahoma. So not really popular during football season to say the least.. LOL

We have no children but hope to someday. If not, then we will be happy growing old together just the two of us.

I have two dogs. One is about 10 years old and a Chihuahua and then a new Chihuahua puppy.

My favorite craft is plastic canvas and then making the toppers, tags, tiles, etc.

As for collecting, I collect antique musical instruments. Have been collecting since I was in junior high school. But it has really started to get expensive so starting to collect the miniature tea sets. I don't have many hobbies otherwise except for reading the true crime books.

When it is the season my husband and I do storm chasing. We just finished our 5th year of doing that. Actually was a pretty dull year for tornados in our area.

How fun to read all these little bits. Here is mine:

I live in Seattle (going on 40 yrs) and am 69. I have one son 43 who is deaf. I am currently single.

I thoroughly enjoy crafts: knit, crochet, xstitch, paper folding, calligraphy (taught for 20 years), music: play several instruments, have sung solos to groups, been recorded, done live tv and radio, love karaoke.

I became disabled about 6 years ago (arthritis) so stay home alot working on crafts. Am presently working on hats and scarves for homeless in my area. I am multi-talented (as many of you are) and not enough time to accomplish all that I want to do and get done.

My son and I collect race car stuff (mine is #24 his is #8 and #3. We try not to go overboard though.

I have a Yorkie, Ragdoll cat, and half Siamese cat.

One funny on me: I do not do much xstitch but one day went through things and found that I have 23 kits that need to be done lol. If I live to be 200, maybe I can get half of the things done that are waiting. Guess I have rambled about long enough about my full life - time to give others a chance.

Alma (Alma)

Hello, my name is Alma and I live near Chattanooga, TN in Soddy-Daisy.

I have been married to my DH what seems like forever. We didn't know if he was going to live or die a year ago and it was touch and go. He is the Best. He had a procedure done today and on the way home, we had to drive by Hobby Lobby. He asked, "Do you need or want to stop today?"

We have 1 daughter who is an electrical engineer and has a 5 ½ -year-old boy and is 4 months pregnant. They recently moved about 5 miles away. Her husband is just what I would have wished for her. She has been so sick every day and he does the cooking, cleaning and everything else without grumbling. We also have a son that is a police officer with Soddy-Daisy Police Dept. He has a 13th month old boy who is just like him. His wife says that it just isn't fair. She was the one who had the labor pains and the weight to lose and her son doesn't look or act like They live within 2 miles of us. We also have an adopted son who is a MD and another wonderful DIL. They have a 6-year-old daughter soon to be 7 in Dec. They live about 10 miles away.

I fell down 2 ½ months ago and broke both bones in my left leg near the ankle. It is not healing as it should and is still bruised and swollen. This has given me so much time to catch up on the crafts that I can do. My problem is that I cannot concentrate on one project for very long. I do better if I have 2 or 3 going at the same time.

I enjoy cross-stitching and Plastic Canvas, Sewing, Beading and the tiles, magnets and pins. I make things and give them away. I made my first bath fizzies and will make more of them to give away. I enjoy trying new crafts except painting and we won't go

I don't really have a favorite color but seem to have more blues, reds, pinks and yellows. I like just about everything and am so thankful for everything. However, I do have a problem with arrogant people.

I didn't mean to write a short story.
(((Hugs))), Alma

I'm Debbie, and my dh and I have been married 33 years this year! We have one son who is now 22 and who is going to college and loves it! I'm still a sahm because of some health problems; but that gives me a chance to do crafting, right? For the past almost two years we have been taking care of my dh's dad...he still lives at his home but alone and has some long-term health problems; so this is a daily thing. My dh works two jobs...ft and pt...and right now my son is home so I'm not so lonely and I'm loving that!

My crafting is pretty much a beginner, but I love dabbling in this and that when I can.

My favorite crafts are things that are useful, and I love to do baby crafts, towel crafts, a little bit of knitting, some paper crafts and card making, loving giving things away to others, and whatever I see I like on!

I love all colors, esp. yellow..bright and sunny....and lately I've been collecting keychains...anything heart and all the states and countries and some celebrity ones. Music makes my day...and esp. anything online I can research and look at...including!

Okay, here's my book for the day...heeheehee! I get going and can't stop writing, another one of my faves!
Love this group and all of you!

Hi from Oklahoma, near Tulsa! I'm Patty and I'm 48 years old. My husband, Danny and I have been married for 27 years. We have 2 kids. Our son, Shane, is 20 and our daughter, Heidi, is 18.
I have just retired in May from volunteering for 10 years at my kids' elementary school. I miss it, but have been crafting up a storm since. I sew and have made 5 old jeans denim rag quilts and 1 baby rag quilt in the last year and have plans for 2 more. I love making them! I have also been giving craft classes and making things for our annual church bazaar, which is this coming Sat., so I still have a lot of things to finish before then. I like to make ornaments, especially snowmen, for the bazaar while my husband and I are RV camping at the lake in the summer. It doesn't seem quite as hot out when you're making snowmen! LOL!!!
I collect Pillsbury Doughboy things and old tin advertising signs. My husband and I have just redone our kitchen and it's done in blue and white with the Pillsbury Doughboy. I found Doughboy wallpaper border and cabinet door handles online!!! I LOVE it!!!
I would like to welcome all the new Voy cyberfriends and have enjoyed reading what everyone does. This place is the best!

Right now I am working as an "enrichment teacher". I travel from school to school (elementary) and teach the subjects of: arts and humanities, drama, practical living and vocational studies. I love being around the kids. I would really like it if I didn't have to travel take the good with the bad and seeing as how I had been out of a job for 2 years...this job has been a blessing!

Hope this tells you a little bit about me!
