POEMS - FLOWER PENS IN CLAY POTS

Date Posted: 03:18:05 06/12/03 Thu
Author: Judy R
Subject: Flower Pot Poem

I'm begging again, I'm making flower pots with the bic pens with a flower on them. I put 3 pens in a 4"pot, and I need a catchy little poem or saying to go with them. Some thing about keeping your pens or not losing your pens. I made one for DH to put next to the phone because he was always complaining about never being able to find a pen when he needs one. Now he has no trouble finding one and he remembers to put I back where it belongs.

Hope this helps

Flower Pens
If you must write something down
And a pen cannot be found,
Just pick a flower from this pot
And you won't be left on the spot.

Another poem I found

FLOWER POT PENS

No need for water
we don't want any rain
just keep our ink topped up
and we'll flower time and again.
We can brighten any room
and make writing creative fun
take us with you anywhere
as we won't wilt in the sun.

[> Re: Flower Pot Poem -- Judy R, 03:50:42 06/13/03 Fri [1]

I also added a couple of leaves, and wrapped them in as I wrapped the pens, and instead of foam, I used rice and then added some moss on top, gluing it to the sides of the pot.

Flower Pot Pens

Subject: HELP...flower pens...Please

Has anyone made the silk flower pens. I know in the past it was popular and my DS wants to make them in his class for Mother's Day and I can't find the directions. I thought about having him have the kids paint small pots to put the pens in but what would they stick into? And how do you attach the flower to the top?
Thanks for your help
Gracie

put play dough in the pots. Hot glue or wire the flowers onto pens. Put ribbon around the flower to hide the wire.

I have a couple where green floral tape was wrapped around the pens to hold the flower stems to it.

Gracie - another crafter from another board was so gracious and put together a tutorial with pictures on how to make the flower pens. Her online name is Bunnieart. Here is a link to her instructions and pictures:

Thank you sooooo much, you guys are great! That was just what I was looking for. Now off to the store to buy 22 "kits" hahaha One thing with a male teacher, they need a mom around. Just kidding, he does great on his own but when it comes to holiday craft ideas...ohhhh Mom (and I love every minute of it) Thanks again! Gracie

On Mother's Day where I work we are giving each woman a flower pen because they are "special" (not all are mothers). Would like a very short poem telling them this.

Sassie, how about this as a start...

This flower pen is coming to you
With a message to say
On Mother's Day you're as special
As on any other day!

You are very special
So this flower pen is for you
To wish you a Happy Mother's Day
And the best the whole year through.

Subject: Mother's Day Pen Poem needed

I was wondering if you talented people could come up with a simple poem for Mother's Day that my DS's class can attach to a pen flower. When he asked me, I knew just the place to go, your all so wonderful at this and my poems are just down right scary, hahaha

Thanks for all you do and your time in helping us poem challenged people!

A flower for Mother's Day
Isn't that neat?
Meant for a lady
Who is awesome and sweet

It looks like a flower
But on the other end
What do you suppose?
It's a writing pen !

I'm just gonna do them the easy way--wrap the flower stem and pen with floral tape. Got several like that which look nice.

I drill a little hole in the end of the pen and put the stem in it then wrap with the tape it turns out really nice I hot glue the leaves to the flower

Re: Hugs all checking in from work...lol LOOKING for instructions for the pen flowers -- Annie~B, 17:46:09 05/23/06 Tue [1]

I used the Bic pens; the little 'sealer' end cap pops out; stick a clipped stem of flowers in there with a bit of glue. Then, wrap pen with floral tape; pulling tape tight so it will stick.

Hi. I do mine the same way that Annie B does hers--pop the little plug off the BIC pen and stick the stem down in there. I haven't made them in a long time....would make a good addition to some of the odds 'n ends paint can goodie tins I'm doing.

Flower Pens w/Vase or Pot

You will need:

Floral Tape
Artificial flowers and various berry picks (picks optional)
Package of Pens
Small Glass Vase OR Terra Cotta Pot
Decorative marbles or small river rocks (pebbles)

Instructions:

Clip the flowers so there is about 1-2 inches of stem. Put a dot of hot glue on one side of the pen, near the top and press the flower's stem into the hot glue. Hold in place for about 5 seconds, or until set. Set aside to dry for about 1 minute (work on other pens during this time.) Starting at the top of the pen, wrap the pen with floral tape. Place the flower pens in a little vase filled with decorative marbles or river rocks.
---------------------------
Here are some sites to give you an idea of what they look like. I use these in my own office, because parents and co-workers don’t accidentally walk off with them. You can make it a Christmas poinsettia theme OR a floral theme you can use all year round.

Jodi, those are so cute, I have made pen pots before, but the extra leaves and the butterflies really add to them. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Judy

Jodi - How cute!!! I, too, have made pen pots, but, just one flower. I love how you did yours with the extra leaves and the butterfly - so cute!

Did you use stryofoam in the bottom with the moss over the top? I did some for an office and used dried beans, but thought next time I would use fish tank gravel. Just curious.

Laura, I used popcorn kernals because they were old and on hand. I plan to use beans next.
Thanks!

Subject: need a tag with flower pen saying

Need a tag with a saying for the flower pens I made which I put in a flower pot and some in a glass container. This way other people can not take off with the pen. I want to give this as gifts to some of my friends so they can put them on their desk at work.

Poems: Flower Pen to Use But Return to Place on Counter

Date Posted: 09:44:35 10/14/08 Tue
Author: nancyl
Subject: flower pen poem

Does anybody know where I can find a little saying to put with the flower pens bouquet? The secretary at school wants to put the pens on the counter in the office with a little card. I thought I had seen something here along that line. Thanks for your help, Nancy

Replies:
[> Re: flower pen poem -- Curious, 11:38:16 10/14/08 Tue [1]

hmmmmm does she want them to stay on the counter or are they gifts?

[> Re: flower pen poem -- nancyl, 12:15:08 10/14/08 Tue [1]

No they are not gifts. She wants them to stay. She can never keep pens from straying. Maybe with the flowers on them they will realize they are to stay in the bouquet and not go away. Hey, I made a rhyme!

Nancy,
Perhaps this might help? ^o^ CM2

Probably silly, but here you go....

This is a pretty flower pen
it's special in its own way,
it doesn't need to be in water,
and you can use it all day.
