Subject: slinky bird feeder

I just saw the cutest thing. No instructions but I will bet there is some talented people out there that can figure it out. It is a bird feeder made with a slinky. Here is the website to see it. The darn thing is $22.95 an it is made out of a slinky(toy) for heaven sake. But it is so cute. I want one. Oh,and it is filled with peanuts. Helen

Picture shows a bird feeder wreath made from a slinky. Looks simple enough.

I can't figure out what the ring is that the slinky is on.

It looks like you could use a wire coat hanger. Unfastening it just below the hook, leaving the hook in place, shaping it into a circle, threading the slinky on it and attaching the slinky to each end, fill with peanuts and reattaching the ends of the hanger together and use the original hook to hang the wreath up with.
It looks like a clever but reasonably simple project.

It looks like something the squirrels would take over in a short while here, lol. We have never had a bird feeder yet...even the ones that say 'squirrel proof' and have baffles...that have kept the squirrels out.

None in my neighborhood to many dogs and cats around. Before I attemt to make this, I am going to look at Hobby Lobby for that ring. Since she sell them I think she is purchasing that ring somewhere.

I'd have to say the part that looks like a slinky must be welded on at each loop. Otherwise the slinky would just droop at the bottom and if you look at the photo it does not. I don't think a slinky is what you want to try this project. It could be that you could do it by wrapping wire tightly around a wire hoop, you couldn't have the wire slide along the hoop though, otherwise the peanuts would just fall out.

I have given up on the project. I think it is just to much for me to handle. Thanks anyway.
