Subject: OT queston for anyone who does key poems?

I was wondering where you buy your keys and how much they are. I had been doing them and buying my keys from a local store but the price went up and I haven't bought them for awhile but I sell them in a store I am in and would like to keep doing them. I didn't want to raise the price. TIA

MaryLee....I bought 3 bags almost full of old keys for a $1.00 a bag, believe it or not from a Flea Market in OK. Talk to those that make the keys and see if they would sell you the ones that don't fit right in locks. Also check with a Locksmith and see if maybe he might have some. Sorry but that is all the ideas I can come up with.
Hugs

I get the misscuts at the Hardware Store. They have a bucket of them under the machine. Sometimes they are keys that the owner doesn't want. I find all kinds of keys in there and am not charged a cent. I only take about a dozen or more at a time though as I don't want them to quit giving them to me. These are miscut house keys if that is what you are looking for. They might just give you a small screw bag and just fill it. All you can do is ask...you don't have any now, so if they say "no" you aren't out anything. :) That's my motto.

I really like the gold skelton keys for the poems but they got too expensive so I might look into both of your ideas. Thanks a bunch ladies !!

Mary Lee, I have been buying my blank keys on Ebay and also from http://www.keymachine.com/colekeys.htm

The prices are good if you need quantity.

Pauline, which of these keys do you use for key poems? I have been using the skelton keys and have checked out ebay but most of them are high.

Mary Lee, I use any key that I can find, auto, home etc. I use the dimensional paint and put a heart on the key then tie it with a pretty ribbon, no bow, just tie it thru the opening to make it pretty. I then apply it to the printed poem and it makes a nice presentation. I don't know how to post a photo but if you send me your email address I will be glad to send a photo to you. The 3D painted heart makes any key look sweet. I bought a small bottle for $1.50 and its done over 200 keys and still going. I just got an order in yesterday. This batch was interesting because it had some colored keys in it. The seller info is http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... ESINDXX:IT

Pauline, how many keys were in your order? I was on ebay today and saw this post but I didn't know if the keys were nice. I like the skelton keys but the antique ones are very expensive and the others I used to buy went up in price so I think I will have to settle for using these other keys. Click on my name to send me a picture. Thanks
