Subject: Spring craft show thought & opinions needed
Hello ladies, I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.I am hoping that you can help me with a decsion I am trying to make. I received a postcard notification about a spring holiday craft show that will be held next month. I have never done a spring show only fall & winter shows. What I am wondering are springs shows worth the effort? I would have to buy springish supplies, pay $50 for a table & have this all done in a months time.
Things I thought I could make are: Bottle lights in spring & summer themes, journals & even some bath sundae's. I also thought about making the redneck wineglasses.
Opinions, thoughts or ideas....Please? Thank you
Mar

I don't know what the craft show market is like in your area, but I have tried a spring show twice, once each in two different towns. One had 125 vendors and the second one had 75. I felt that they were both flops, even though I did better than anyone else there. That doesn't say much. Two of the booths that had some really nice things never sold one thing in two days (!) and many of the vendors complained that they didn't even make one quarter of their booth rents in sales. People around here (NW MN) get cabin fever so bad by spring that they do not want to do anything inside. Also, in late March and early April people either have to pay their taxes, or they are waiting for a refund, so money is rather tight. I felt that I did not sell enough to make it worth the effort. I would much rather spend my time working on things for the fall shows and not have to invest in supplies for another season. Just my humble opinion.

SueZQ - You have mentioned all the reasons why I am against doing a spring show. The tax thought never came to my mind but it is a very good point to think about. But then again some people could be like my kids & run to get taxes done because they know they will get alot back. I truely appreciate your humble opinion....it gives me added things to thing about. Thank you.
BTW-I'm in SW PA.

Just my Quick Thoughts, I would want to go to a show and see what it is like before taking the space at $50. Know How many shows have they had ~~ be sure of the booth size and if you would have a nice display size and still plan a space for yourself inside the space! customer walkspace may come out of the space remember. Is your weather good at that time, may be disappointed not able to safely get to the show?
The gas price is high, Tax time, Easter is April 24th. Not other occasssions for a person to buy for like a Falll show?If you had to invest a lot in supplies that will cut into your profit~ nice to know others there are not making the same product you have, be sure your craft is something new to people. Good luck !

Thank you ladies I appreciate all of your help. I've decided not to do the Spring show. It came down to the fact that my funds for this month just won't allow for me to do it. Besides it not like I don't have other projects to keep me busy. After considering what everyone said & really wanting to do it, I have to realize my limits. I could dip into my savings but its just not worth it right now to me.
Thanks again & happy crafting.
