Here are my hollyhocks already, got nipped by 17 degrees last week but it won't hurt them, first is my flower bed, which I have to keep digging them up, too many and second is the down below where I threw one of the cuttings and now they are popping up all over. Joan

How tall will they get? Will they flower the first year after being planted? (Mine didn't) Do they need any kind of support like a trellis?

My plant from the seeds Mary Lee sent me last year was planted in a large container and is now a little over a foot high.

Hi Joan~
The Hollyhocks are so beautiful. I'm sorry now I didn't ask for a few seeds last year when you made the offer. It looked a bit overwhelming with everyone wanting the seeds.

These bring me memories of yesteryear at my Grandmom's house. She lived on a farm and had those growing down one side of the yard that looked over the field where the horses were grazing. She too, had all different colors.

Thanks for sharing...you've got a "Green Thumb!"
Hugs~ Joann

I just planted mine last week in Pa .
Had to wait for good planting weather.

Wow I do remember these plants as a child >
we made dancing dolls to play with out of the flowers !

Wow, I haven't seen Hollyhocks in forever. My Grandparents had some in their garden.
Very nice~

Your hollyhocks sure are pretty. I have a pink one in bloom. Mary Lee had sent me the seeds last year, and now this year I have some blooms.

My hollyhocks are just starting to grow, so hopefully I will have some pretty pictures later on.

Beautiful. I just planted mine also because of the long winter we had. Jan

Just got mine planted too. How long does it take for them to grow?

I do not remember how long for the first plant, mine just come up year after year. I am going to take new photos today, found one growing all alone below my deck, must have blown there it is only one foot high but bloomed last night. Joan
