POEMS: TISSUE HOLDER FOR WEDDING GUESTS

Date Posted: 00:41:46 05/18/03 Sun
Author: Ann Ewing
Subject: Wedding Tissue Holder Poem

Hi Everyone,
I'm working on a tissue holder for my daughter's wedding and I need a poem for the back. My tissue holder is kinda like a seed packet only it has a tissue for anyone who might cry. Just need a short poem to sort of explain what it is. Did I make sense? Thanks to you all,
Ann E.

We don't want tears to
be an issue....
So here's a pouch with
a little tissue...
In case the tears should
start to flow....
Take a tissue and blot
them slow....
Put on a big smile,
and noone will know.....

lol....maybe someone else will come up with one too....if not, hope this helps...

[> Re: Need Poet -- arla, 06:55:26 05/18/03 Sun [1]

here's two i've saved by jacksmum and by shirley

Happy tears are so precious
and we may share them today,
but when it's time to celebrate
use this to dab them away!
by shirleyt@craftsayings.com

A wedding how grand
a reason to celebrate
the groom is ready
and the bride looks great
But weddings so often
make people cry
tears of joy
often fill an eye
So take the tissue
to dab away tears
and good luck to the couple
throughout the years.
Sue

If you have a teary issue
here's a little tissue
..but just for fact, if you blow,
you'll have to go!!

POEM: HERB GARDEN BASKET FOR WEDDING SHOWER

Date Posted: 18:44:07 05/01/04 Sat
Author: LeeW
Subject: a poem request for herb garden shower gift

I am in the process of putting together a "herb garden" basket for a wedding shower. I have oregano, marjoram, thyme, parsley, sage and lavendar plants, garden gloves, garden tools and a patio stone that says "herbs" on it. All to go in a set of 3 sea grass stackable baskets. Can any of you talented poets think of a nice poem I could put on a card? Thanks in advance.

[> Re: a poem request for herb garden shower gift -- louc, 03:14:20 05/02/04 Sun [1]

LeeW, this is the best I could do.
I suggest you wait till the poets
read your post.
~~~~~~
For the path you have chosen
This basket conveys congratulations
As you've taken to a higher level
To futher your relations
Just as you'll need to work this garden
If you want it to grow
You must also do some tending
To your marriage too, you know
The love will strengthen and deepen
In time if you don't quit
And same as with the herb garden
You can spice up your life a bit!
[> Re: a poem request for herb garden shower gift -- jacksmum, 04:40:07 05/02/04 Sun [1]
Lou a poet has already responded and YOU did a wonderful job. I love your poem.
I had a go too.
Preparing for a marriage
is like gardening you see,
you need the right conditions
for growth and longevity.
A touch of spice and flavor
between a man and wife,
removing any little weeds
before they can cause strife.
Lots of tender loving care
and a gentle touch
both herbs and marriage
can add so very much.
So this little garden
is my gift for you today,
may it flourish and grow
like the two of you I pray.
We're inviting you to come along
To have brunch to celebrate
That our ________'s wedding went off well
So hurry write down the date
It won't be very formal
Just a get together for some tea
So we can enjoy some peace and fun
After all the wedding stress you see
We'll talk of all that happened
We'll laugh and shed a tear
But it won't be a celebration
If you don't come and join us here
IDEAS & POEM BRIDE & GROOM PAPERCLIP ANGELS
I am trying to make paperclip angel for Bride and Groom-Wedding Day. The angels will be a lot easier than poem. Please help. Thanks in advance
Here we are, Bride and Groom
Ready for our Honeymoon
Such joy on this our Wedding Day
May it never fade away
[> Re: Requesting Poem for Bride and Groom Angels -- Gail, 02:27:42 05/27/04 Thu [1]
I made a groom and he came out cute. I attached a bride and groom to a decorated basket that will be set out for the wedding. I will tell you though it is a one of a kind. I will try to explain what I did. I took the paperclip and turned it the opposite way from making the angel. Where the wings would be for the angel now becomes the legs for the groom...I pinched it together to make it a little closer though. Then I wrapped this part with black ribbon (this makes an outline of a leg), adding a little glue as I wrapped. At the straight part (this would be the top) I attached a ribbon using a slip knot and added a wooden bead for the head. Then I made a really small bow and placed it under the bead to represent a bow tie. It really looked like a groom to....lol
[> Re: Requesting Poem for Bride and Groom Angels -- Sandy, 07:11:55 05/27/04 Thu [1]
Thanks for the poem. I will try to explain what I am attempting. I wrapped one angel with white floss and on the bead I put a piece of lace for a veil. Wrapped another clip in black foss and put a small paper top hat on the bead. Then glued the 2 together at wing tips (slightly overlapped)
Will attach poem and couple to package. Gail's sounds cute maybe I will try that too then decide which to use. Thanks again. Lots of weddings coming up.
How are you going to fix them to look loke a bride and groom.I don't write poems.Anyway I have a shower to go to next week.They would be to cute to put on my presents.Thanks.
This is the one we're using for my son's wedding......
Please lend a hand on this special day
To capture our wedding your own unique way
This isn't a very tedious task
Just a few snapshots, that's all we ask
The wonderful smiles, the joyous tears
Pictures to remember throughout the years
It'll be so special to see through your eyes
A simple pose, an elaborate surprise
So we can see pictures and remember when...
And relive this day again and again.
Subject: Party Camera poem needed
Ok I know I should be able to write one but.... I have been so busy lately with new job, silver wedding coming up on Saturday and Lees wedding in July, that I just completely forgot to sort this out. Now I'm panicking and have brain freeze. Help!
Can anyone give me the poem that you put on the tables with the party cameras for your guests to take pictures for you. I need two:
One for our Silver Wedding - Yvonne and Fred married 25 years ago 16th June 1979
and
the other for Lee and Emma getting married 3rd July 2004
Any help or directions to sites would be appreciated
Hugs Yvonne
Hi Yvonne,
I did a search for poems and came up with these. Maybe you could modify one of them for each occasion:
Poems for Disposable Cameras
When providing disposable cameras for guests to use at a wedding, one of the problems is letting the guests know what you expect them to do with the cameras. One solution many people like is to attach a poem to the camera. Here are some examples (I'm always looking for more!):
I'm your camera - so have some fun,
You'll make this album a special one!
Snap away as best you're able,
Then leave me off at the gift table!
Here is a camera
Please use it a lot,
To take pictures of
What the photographer will not.
The flash is required
Because it is night.
If you don't use it,
The snaps won't come out right.
Hold the front switch over
'Til the little light flutters.
You're all ready now!!
So please press the shutter.
The perfect distance
Is four to ten feet.
Any nearer or farther
Will be your defeat.
At the end of the evening
With all film exposed,
Return to the best man,
Who'll develop the photos.
The bride and groom have a request
So put on a big smile
And look your best
When you see some fun
Take the hint
You snap the camera
And we'll make the print!
Take this camera and have some fun
Get some pictures of everyone!
Maybe you'll see something
We didn't see
That we can keep as a memory!
Thank you for sharing
This special day with us.
See this camera sitting here --
It's for your use, we say.
To help us capture memories
On this, our wedding day.
Share the camera among the guests.
Some candid shots please take.
Then leave the camera when you're done.
An album we will make.
You've helped to make our special day
Complete with love and laughter.
Thank you all so very much
For the memories you did capture!
Contributed by "From This Day Forward" Wedding Consultants Carol and Joy
To celebrate this special day,
Pick a camera and really play.
Leave it on the table when you are through,
So Mary and John can develop the pictures taken by you.
This is a very special gift
for Anne and Bob to see.
The Reason it's so special is,
'Cause it's from you and me.
Take a posed or candid snapshot
and when all the film is through,
leave the camera by the door
so they'll have these memories of you.
Contributed by Kathy Maloney
Hope this helps a little
[> Re: Party Camera poem needed -- Lilpeach, 04:46:09 06/09/04 Wed [1]
Here's a few more I found online:
Take this camera and have some fun
Get some pictures of everyone!
Maybe you´ll see something
We didn´t see
That we can keep as a memory!
Thank you for sharing
This special day with us.
*********************
To celebrate this special day,
Pick a camera and really play.
Leave it on the table when you are through,
So [bride´s name] and [groom´s name] can develop the photos taken by you.
**********************
This camera´s been provided so
We´ll have pictures of people we know.
Take snaps, if you´re able
Of friends on your table
And leave it behind when you go!
[> Re: Party Camera poem needed -- Lilpeach, 04:50:37 06/09/04 Wed [1]
Here's another cute idea :
An alternative to buying disposable cameras is to provide a basket of film for your guests. The following poem will help explain this to your guests:
To those who brought cameras, there's a special request
Take plenty of pictures of the worst and the best
There's one more favor to add, before we forget
When you get them developed make a second set
See we're counting on your kind-hearted affection
To add to our expanding wedding collection!
And if you run low on film and wish you had more,
That's what these rolls of film in the basket are for.
Yvonne, Maybe you can get some ideas from Lilpeach's post and this and then come up with your own great poem. Enjoy the happy occasions you've got coming up and then sit down a relax a bit!!! Hugz, Shirley
We hope you'll help us out with
the cameras here and there...
snapping photos of memories
on this joyous day we share.
Without your help we're sure
many treasured things we'd miss,
so we thank you now for when
we can sit back and reminisce.
Please just leave them on the table
and we will take care of the rest,
and the best part we'll remember
is friends with whom we're blessed!
I am in need of a poem to go with some disposable cameras that my daughter in law will be using at her baby shower that is coming up in October. I am going to make labels to put on the cameras that will have the poem. It needs to say something about taking pictures of the event and to please not take the camera, to leave it there for the mom to develope and enjoy. Or however your poets think it should be worded, lol.
Thanks so much, Diane
Diane, Here is one I have but do not remember where I got it or who wrote it.
A camera placed upon each table
So every guest will be able
To take pictures so we can see
All our friends and family.
Now pick it up and snap away
To celebrate this special day.
Have some fun and make a face
Or be serious, whatever the case.
And when you're through, all photos shot
Just leave it here, and THANKS ALOT!
nice poems kelli, we don't even have to try lol
Cool idea! I know many who have used them for weddings, but I've never known anyone to use them for a shower. Great way to record the day.
Kelli
Please feel free to snap some pics
Of all this shower fun!
When this day is over
And the partying is done
We'll fill a book with memories made
And someday, when he's/she's grown,
We'll be sure the baby sees
The love that you've all shown!
Our memories sometimes fail us
But a camera helps us out
By recording all the happy things
This day is all about!
So please feel free to snap some shots
And when the day is done,
We'll have lots of pictures
That captured all the fun!
Then someday we will share them
With this baby on the way,
And he/she will know just how much love
Was shown for him/her today!
Any suggestions with a poem for the invite? Yall are so good at this. Her name is Kimberly Carter and his name is Jason. Please help a dumb bunny who loves to read all your wonderful ideas. Recipe Shower
Have each guest bring along their favorite recipe and a pound of something to stock the bride's kitchen. It may be nice to send a blank recipe card along with the invitation.
Recipe Poem
Enclosed for you is a recipe card
To fill it in shouldn't be hard.
(Bride-to-be's Name) might like to try your favorite cake
or whatever it is you like to make.
So don't forget the card on this special date
Fill it in now, don't hesitate.
At the shower will be a recipe box to fill
So bring this recipe card, if you will.
POEMS FOR WEDDING GARTER USED FOR BABY'S HEADBAND
Author: MaryLee
Subject: I need your help finding something !!
I am looking for the poem for the baby headband that gets used for a wedding garter. My computer crashed and I just got it up again and I lost alot of stuff. What a PAIN !! LOL
Thanks MaryLee
[> Re: I need your help finding something !! -- CrazeeMoi, 20:49:43 06/12/03 Thu [1]
maybe one of these will help you:
"Wear as a halo upon Baby's head...Cherish as a garter til baby weds!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A headband for this baby girl
worn with her Christening Dress
Will hold a sacred memory of
the day that she was blessed.

When the months have turned to years
Filled with tears and joy,
Your baby girl, then all grown up
Will find that special boy.

Then "something old and something new"
that every bride must carry,
"This headband, now her garter",
On the day that she should marry.

[> Re: I need your help finding something !! -- ShirleyT, 10:49:39 06/13/03 Fri [1]

Mary Lee, There's one in the archives. Sorry about the crash! Put a garter around a bear like a headband. It is to be given to a bride so that she can wear the garter on her wedding day and then she saves the bear and garter for her baby and the garter becomes a headband.

I've made this little shawl for you
To wear on your wedding day
So a mothers love will enfold you
As you give your name away
For there's no one more special than a daughter
Whose loved as much as you
So wear this shawl and think of me
On the day you say 'I do'

For your wedding day
I made you something from my heart
To remember me by when
Your new life starts

As you say your vows
My heart will be with you
May this shawl bring you happiness
And joy your whole life through!

No longer a small, dependent child
But always my little girl,
I wanted to give you something
As you go out into the world.
You've chosen a man to marry,
To share all things in life;
A hand to hold through days to come,
Through happiness and strife.
I made this shawl with caring hands,
Each stitch, with love, was placed
And as a whole it represents
Your mother's warm embrace.
So when you are apart from me,
When I can't be right there,
Just wrap yourself in mother's love
And know I'll always care.

Father Looking Down On Her On Weeding Day

Date Posted: 09:50:24 10/29/04 Fri
Author: Kay(PA)
Subject: Poem needed

I need a special poem please.

My niece is getting married on Nov 6 and I'd like to have a special poem to give her. She having a very small wedding.

Her father passed away 1 1/2 years ago from cancer. Her parents divorced when she was real young and she didn't really get to know her father until she was in her teens. Just as she was getting really close to him, he found out he had cancer.

Could someone write a poem about her wedding day and him looking down on her. He was so proud of her and I know she will be missing him on her wedding day. I know he would be happy for her because she really loves her fiance Brian. Her brother is giving her away. Her name is Melissa, her father's name was Wayne and her brother's name is Robert.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
Kay

[> Re: Poem needed -- Caboobie, 10:12:11 10/29/04 Fri [1]

Don't know if this is what you were thinking of, but maybe it will help.

As you celebrate your wedding day
I hope that you will feel
The love that is surrounding you
And know that love is real
For somewhere up in Heaven
I am looking down you see
Onto a special daughter
Who meant the world to me
We didn’t have that long Melissa
To get to know each other
But I’m really pleased we got the chance
To spend time with one another
And as you give your name away
And take Brian’s for your own
Remember me, but do not cry
For I am not alone
There were many things we didn’t do
Or get a chance to say
But I will always be around for you
At any time of day
Now as you kneel and say your vows
With Brian at your side
I’ll be watching from above
My beautiful young bride
For a fathers love is special
And though I can’t be there
I hope I’m always in your memories
Till we meet again, someday, somewhere

[> Re: Rodeo Bride Comedy Poem Needed -- jacksmum, 23:19:01 11/28/04 Sun [1]

Hi Rusty. I apologize in advance if Irene is a real bride who happens to works in a rodeo, I took your request to mean her job was dressing up as a bride called Irene who rides horses and wrote this from that angle. Hope it helps. Sue :)

Irene loves the rodeo
the ride and the thrill
racing around barrels
the adrenelin and skill.
But her greatest challenge
is the one that lies ahead
cause the rodeo bride just heard
her fiance upped and fled.
So gather round folks
and cheer as off she goes
Irene is going man hunting
to drag him back by the toes.

There was a young bride named Irene
Racing horses around barrels is her scene
Now her groom is alarmed
Cause he wants Irene to come to no harm
Before there is time to say I do
And life insurance is purchased for you

LOL..this was too fun! Something I actually know something about :)

Irene raced 'round that barrel with customary speed.
The second barrel was smoother as she trusted her sorrel steed.
Oh No! the third barrel was a wobblin' as she entered the straight-a-way;
But never worry--NOTHING can stop a Bride on her Wedding Day!

Thanks guys-you're all the best! Loved them all! Just for the record Irene is not a bride yet and she does ride horses and competes in competitions. It is just a standing joke about her getting up the courage to be a bride. She will just love the poetry! Thanks again.

Subject: M&M wedding favor poem

I am giving out little bags of either plain or peanut M&M's for my wedding reception & I would like to attach a little poem to it...sort of like the "a hug and a kiss, from new Mr. & Mrs." obviously since we're doing M&M's this won't quite fit. any suggestions?

Marriage and Memories
is what this day brings,
a lifetime of each,
with the sharing of rings,
A gift from us both,
M and Ms just for you,
We ask you to share in
our marriage and memories too.

Maybe you could write the Ms in the poem in colour like m and ms,

Marina

Postponing A Wedding Poem

Date Posted: 12:06:23 03/04/05 Fri

Subject: Need poem for postponing a wedding

Hi all, my DS and fiance were planning on getting married this August. They have decided that financially it would be better for all if they waited until next August (2006) for the wedding, due to them still being in college. Now, they had already printed the invitations, and we have given a few of them out, and since the wedding is 1/2 way across the country from where our family lives, we figured some would have to make plans for travel well in advance.
I was wondering if you talented poets could come up with a poem of sorts that I could put into a little card to send out to explain that the wedding is not off, just on hold for a year, and we are sorry for any confusion, but hopefully this is still soon enough that everyones plans can be changed. Hope this makes sense.
Their names are Darin and Grace, and the wedding is to be in Alexandria, Virginia.
Thanks so much
Jo

Hi Jo
Hope this helps
Sue :)

Darin and Grace are to marry
but not as soon as they planned
so the date has been changed
and we hope you will understand.
Due to financial commitments
and college still being done
the wedding will now be in 2006
so we apologise to everyone.
We hope this is sufficient notice
to allow your plans to change
remember the weddings not cancelled
only the date will be rearranged.

Thanks so much Sue, that is perfect, and just in time, I'm heading out of town to help with a b-day party for mom this weekend, and will be able to give this to some that will be there.
You have such a gift with words, and I so appreicate your help.
Thanks
Jo

Candle Poems

Subject: Help with candle poem

Would one of the great poets come up with a poem to go with a candle being used as a bridal shower favour.

Bride & grooms names are Sharon and Jack.

We are giving two candles tied together with ribbon...so I am looking for something about maybe the candles representing them...something maybe about flames uniting them or their lives coming together...two shall become one...something along those lines.
Thanks again

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

Mega B here's a short one hope it helps...

Two little candles
Given to you as a special token
As Sharon and Jack become one
When "I Do" they have spoken.

Nice poem Doreen, here's my attempt

May this little candle
Shed a light as they are led
Down the path of joy and happiness
When Sharon and Jack are wed
May the one who has recieved it
Also find the way
And may we add, our heartfelt thanks
For being here today

Poem Request for a Wedding Favors

Subject: Poem Request for a Wedding

Hi from sunny California. I am visting my son in San Francisco and helping my future daughter in law make wedding plans. Elisabeth is so thoughtful that she is willing to travel back to Boston to be married, so that our friends and family won't have the travel expense to share in the festivities. She is a very sensible and practical young woman. I am going to make the wedding favors, but would like to request a poem to say thank you for joining us on Michael and Elisabeth's very special day. I am going to fill Chinese take out boxes with candy, and decorate the side of the box with scrapbooking paper and hopefully a personalized poem. Does that make sense? I hope I am conveying the request properly. Thank you again for your creative talents.
