Snowman in a Jar

Subject: Jazbo, snowman in a jar with buttons

Hi Jazbo, so glad you liked the poem, had to have another go at it when I realized Frosty would be naked if he didn't have his buttons on!

In this jars a treasure hunt,
Some things for you to see,
Poor Frosty's all in pieces,
He's as mixed up as can be!
See if you can find his bits,
Just shake it all around,
When you see 17 pieces,
Everything is found.
1 black hat, one orange nose,
3 buttons for his belly,
5 black sequins for his mouth,
2 eyes that wobble like jelly.
A silver snowflake that won't melt,
A pearl cos it looks sweet,
Thank goodness Frosty's fat and round,
You don't have to find his feet!
Still more to go, you're nearly done,
there's still a bow in there,
And last of all his mittens,
not just one, a pair,
You'll find them all deep in the snow,
And then your treasure hunt is done,
I hope that you've enjoyed it,
And had lots and lots of fun! Marina

Hey, Karen. I have done a little searching & have turned up nothing. Sorry. But I will keep looking; maybe someone else will have better luck. It sounds like a cute idea!

The bubble gum machine is made using a 3'' terra cotta pot, painted the color of choice. a amall clear ball type vase, Walmart usually has them and terra cotta saucer to fit over the openning in the ball vase. Paint the saucer the same color as the pot. Paint a 1" wooden knob a color to compliment. and glue to bottom center of saucer, which now is your cover. Glue glass vase to bottom of pot and fill vase with gum, and place cover on vase. (The pot is upside down, so the bottom is the top) I sometimes break about l-1 1/2" piece off of a tongue depresser and paint it silver, glue it to the center front of pot, to look like the place the gum would come out. Hope this helps, I'm not good at writing instructions. I think there is a picture of this in a book by Hot Off The Press, Called Classy Ideas for Ivy Bouls. Good Luck Donna

Karen, although I have never seen a snowman gumball thing-a-ma-jig, I have made the decorated gumball pots. For a snowman one, it would be cute to make the glass bowl on top, the head and face, then the bottom would be the body. For the lid, why not cover the outside of the saucer ususlly used for the lid, with a sock or other fabric to resemble a hat. You could sponge the snowman face and body on. For the snowmen I paint, I usually put gray on first(use flat, gray, spray paint first), then sponge the white on over the gray. Put a cute face on it, tie a fabric scarf around where the bowl is glued to the pot. I think this would look awfully cute. Hey, this sounds so cute,I think I might try one myself!
Hope this helps.

Did anyone find the gumball snowman at the Michaels.com addy? I did a cursory check & turned up with lots of cute stuff, but no snowman. What am I doing wrong?

sure hope you can let us know where to find it. It's not on the Michael's project site. There was only a snowman from the glass bowl part, but not a gumball machine type--with the glass ivy bowl and clay pot for the bottom.

How adorable! My DIL has snowmen on her Christmas tree. I think I will make her one of these pictures for her stocking. Thank you for sharing that idea.
