Well I have had a great couple of days with my 9 year old grandaughter. I do a summer art camp in my studio and she wanted to participate this year. I had a guest instructor {7 years old red headed boy that looked like OppieTaylor} teach us all to finger knit. I am not know for my talent with anything that involves needles or sewing so I was a little intimidated at first...but even I had a blast doing this. This little guy was so cute and really a good teacher for the other children! Anyway I did find a site that demonstrates it. http://www.kidscanmakeit.com/AC0023.htm
Hope I did that right...I am not good at computer stuff either.
GD and I have made belts, bracelets, and hair ties so far and I think we are about ready to progress to connecting these things together. I don't know who has had more fun..her or me!
Anyway wanted to share with others looking for some fun ideas to do with the grands!

My mother taught me to finger knit when I was around 6 I think (man, was THAT ages ago LOL...I still do it sometimes when I need a lace, or something to tie things up with and all I have is a thin string, or just to have something for my hands to do when I've forgotten to bring my knitting or a book to read. ~Tricia

I had completely forgotten about finger-knitting. Was taught years ago. Thanks to you, I can teach the grands. I appreciate you finding the link & sharing it with us. (((hugs)))

This looks like a really cute idea! First I've heard of it. However, I need visuals. I've never been one who has been able to just read the directions on how to do things like this.
Hugs,

Ideas
I've made Christmas tree garlands for family and friends using varigated red, white and green yarn and the Finger Weaving technique. Also a Wreath pin with a pipe cleaner inside to hold its shape. Embellish with a small Christmas bell or other Holiday shapes at the top and a yarn bow.
Suggestion; Teach it to your Girl Scout Troops around Christmas time! It's a nice gift for service projects at Rest Homes during the Holiday.
EnJoy!
