Subject: Newbie...needs help...please

I recently found this site and have spent hours reading the threads and archives. You all are very talented and I love this site. I am trying to find a poem for my sister and her husband (married just under a year). They have a new baby (3months today). They are a very good parents to a very colicy (sp?) daughter. I am making them the movie basket for Christmas with movie rental certificates, candy, drinks, popcorn and off course a Night off baby sitting certificate. I would love to have a cute little poem to attach for very tired parents. Are there any poets out there that could help me?

Babies are a blessing
And babies are a chore
Especially when a colicky one
Has you pacing across the floor
Days and nights seem melted
Into one endless stretch of time
You pour formula into your coffee
And feel like you’re losing your mind
So here’s a night of movies
Remember… your both still Newly Wed
And I’ll take care of your little angel
So you can concentrate on each other instead
So enjoy yourselves while it lasts
Time goes by so fast you’ll see

I have two daughters and had two sisters so I did not get to experience the joy of raising a son or having a brother...however, I will NEVER forget the first time I saw my sister change my nephew's diaper and the way he squirted a fountain of potty into the air!!! We laughed so hard - I just had to write the next poem in honor of that happy memory:

Babies are a joy
And fountain of delight
Especially a boy
And soon you'll know I'm right
The first time you remove
His diaper on the day
You forget to duck
And get out of the way!

POEM: BABY BOTTLE FAIRY

When I had to take the bottle from my little one.(Which I think was harder on me (cause I am in no hurry to see him grow up)I no shame on me!Anyway I told him a bottle fairy took it.Yesterday while packing somethings he saw it.I told him the fairy brought it back so mommy could keep it with all his things we are saving.
Was just wondering if anyone had a little poem to put with it for him to read when he was older? Thanks so much for any help with this Diane

I had to take it from you,

Here is my first-ever attempt. Feel free to reject it, but please be kind. My feelers get hurt easily.

The Bottle Fairy came today
And took Jordan's bottle away.
She thinks it's time for him to grow up
And only use a big boy cup.
Then later when Jordan was fast asleep
She brought it back for Mom to keep
With Jordan's outgrown clothes and toys
Reminders of all the joys
Baby Jordan gave to Mom and Dad
So his growing up won't make them sad.

I am once again asking you talented folks to help me with this baby shower. BTW, my daughter has LOVED the things you have come up with so far, I told her that's how you all are, always just the right thing!
Anyway, now I want a thank you poem from the baby girl to be to put on a favor, or something like that. Daughter says she saw something like this somewhere, but doesn't remember anything but it ended with "see ya soon, baby."

Hi gals, Even though I am still not strong enough to do any crafting, I wanted to share this with you all. I do not know who the author is--I got it at a baby shower about 12 years ago and kept it and used it at my daughter-in-laws shower.

I'm sorry I couldn't
be with you
But I'm terribly busy
you see
Painting my eyes, my
cheeks, my hair
So mother will be
proud of me.

I'm sending this
this little message
To convey to you
this thought
The stork will soon
have left me
To use the gift you
brought.

I rolled them in a scroll fashion and put a plastic baby bracelet tied to a ribbon.

Here's one I used at a babyshower for my Niece.... It sat on the table in a frame by the food, and of course everyone went to the food sometime during the night! and so they read it! They loved it... I had another poem we put on candles that we gave out for a shower gift to everyone!

POEM: BABY BLANKET MADE FROM GRANDMOTHER'S CLOTHES

Subject: Another different kind of poem needed for baby blanket

Can anyone help with a poem to go along with a baby blanket that's being made from pieces of clothing used from a passing grandmothers sweatshirts? My friends mother-in-law recently passed away unexpectedly. Since the family is very close, and there's still grandchildren that will be having babies in the future, I asked my friend for some articles of clothing that I could use to make baby rag-blankets for future great-grandbabies to be wrapped in. Although she'd never be able to hold them in her arms, they'd still be able to be warmed in something that used to keep her warm. The woman that passed was very special to many people.

You're welcome. I think this is a lovely idea. My two boys were 19 and 10 when my mum died. They were her life and they still talk about her as if she were in the room (4 years later). Glad I could help.

Let me introduce myself:
I am your teddy bear

While you are a baby you will suck my fur, rip my ears and toss me across the room and still I’ll love you.

During childhood you will whisper your secrets knowing I will keep them safe, together we will have tea parties and go on adventures and you know I’ll be your best friend.

When you reach the teenage years I’ll sit on your bed and sometimes you’ll cuddle me so tight we’ll both feel better, I’ll still be your confident but I will understand if you don’t want to be seen with me in public. Howdy,

I need a poem and think this is the place!!! I crochet baby socks for new babies at our church. The socks are white with a pearl thread. (very cute and impress with my limited crochet ability!!!) Anyway, I need a poem to go with the sock to be given for the baby blessing or for later use.

We have 14 babies coming this year to our church. (I guess it was a 9/11 thing????) Needless to say the socks were a switch from my usual gift of a crochet blanket. I could not possibly keep up with the blankets.

The poems are a perfect touch.

A friend of mine is having quintuplets. Yes, all at the same time. She is doing well in her pregnancy. The babies are expected when they come.

So, I have completed both the pink and blue socks as well as blessing socks for the little ones. There are 2 girls and 3 boys.
A blessing poem for all five of these little ones would be great.

Subject: Need Poem for Baby Scrapbook

I'm looking for a poem for my daughters scrapbook. My daughter is named after my Grandma who passed away when she was only 6 weeks old. My Grandma's name is Martha Faye and my daughters name is Madison Faye. I'd really like a poem to say something about the the name. Does this make sense? I want my daughter to understand when she gets older what an honor it is to have been named after a wonderful woman. Thank you, Melissa

There was a very special lady,

Thank you all for you messages, and Melissa I am so glad you like it, I must admit it tugged at my heartstrings when I wrote it, as my son never knew any of my grandparents, and I wish he could have, luckily he has two wonderful sets of grandparents of his own, and two great grandmas on my husbands side, one who is 90 this week. Keep talking to your daughter about how special your grandma was, she will understand one day I am sure. Marina

I had asked Carol to write the teddy bear poem for my 2 new grand children..born 3 weeks apart...
I purchased tall candles in glass "jars"...they had a plastic cover on them..perfect...I glued a fiberfill(cloud) on top, added a little fuzzy teddy bear...so it looked like a tb sitting on a cloud...the poem was printed on cloud paper...lol...I rolled the paper and wrapped it around the glass and tied it with blue and white ribbon and pink and white ribbon respectively...(boy and girl)
For the My Friend...same thing...but glued a silk daisy on top...printed poem on daisy paper...
I have sold a few (live in central NY..near Oneonta)..only thing I had to do was switch the poems...customers wanted the My Friend poem with the Teddy bear candle...lol...so now I print extras...
Please give Carol all the credit for the poems...she and Shirley are so gifted...
AND SHIRLEY...your snuggle buddy poem has sold well with my little stuffed animals...my bears look like cats so I attached your poem..lol...

Hi, my mom is giving my daughter a new outfit for her baby girl to wear home from the hospital when she's born. Does anything come to your mind as a simple verse about a Great Grandma giving a new baby her going home outfit? The outfit is white and says "Little Princess" on it. She also made a recieving blanket with pink roses on it. The baby is the 4th generation first born girl. My mom is called "Grams", my daughter's name is Jenelle, I'm called Grannie, and the baby's name is a surprise... Thank you!

I am giving a baby shower Feb. 28 and have decided to have a baby blanket for everyone to sign as a keepsake for the mother-to-be. I like to write a poem in the middle of the blanket. I did find a couple of baby blanket poems on the message board here but it wasn't what I am really hoping to find because I would like to have the blanket framed as a keepsake for the mother-to-be to hang on the wall in the nursey, if she wants. So, the blanket won't be used to keep the baby warm, etc.... instead I would like for the poem to be about how the names on the blanket are people who care so much, etc......? Any ideas?

I have searched thru the archives for a poem about a baby blanket... did I miss them? I didn't find any... Could someone help me? I have made a flannel blanket for a friend who is soon to deliver, and would like a cute poem to attach to it. Help !!!!!!!! This is my first time at writing. I have a craft where I type these words on the computer and print them out on iron-on paper.."Roses are red, Violets are blue, With each diaper change I'll be thinking of you". This is then ironed onto a cloth diaper. I also sew on little buttons that have baby themes. They make great baby shower gifts. Everyone signs the diaper with a permanent marker and it is a keepsake for the baby. I want to do the same with a receiving blanket but I'm having a hard time thinking of a poem that says something about the baby being wrapped in love. I also want to do it with a cloth napkin for a wedding shower. These can be framed. I also thought about doing one on a regular blanket for someone who is going to have an extended stay in the hospital. Something about using the blanket when you feel alone and know that you are covered with the love of the doctors, nurses and loved ones. Can anyone help me with some poems? I am definately poem challenged.
