Hi Marie, thanks for the great idea. I use those items in individual eggs to teach the Easter Story & it will be great to have a visual aid to send home.(Love that website!)

LINKS: EASTER EGG COVERS TO KNIT & CROCHET

Subject: knit to crochet question

I would love to make these cadbury egg covers for Easter, but you have to know how to knit, which I don't. Does anyone who crochets have a similar pattern?

Thanks, Terry

Terry , I make the one Cougar1 suggested. And the Basket and Bunny on the site below also.If you don't want the Bunny in the basket, just do the whole thing one color, or if you know how to do an egg, just add Bunny ears and a tail.
Trust this gives you some ideas.
ENJOY ! Mother Hen , Dorothy

Here is one Terry. I have the pattern you showed since I knit but I don't crochet but in finding the patterns I was wanting I came across a lot of crocheted stuff. Hope this helps.

Oh my gosh, Eileen! It's just toooooo cute! What kind of wire did you use and where did you get it?
Hugs,
Lori Jean :^)

[> Re: Easter Projects.....mine -- Eileen, 10:51:56 01/25/04 Sun [1]

CJ and Lori Jean,
Here yo go...
Full directions follow. Any questions just ask.....

I used Delta's White Frost Etched glass effect on the jars . Got it at Michael's .....Just bought it not the sealer too... It is water based paint. Sponged 2 coats on them. But for $3.88 you can get a can of spray at Home Depot. It stinks and gives me a headache but is faster.(if you don't mind the headache)

print off a graphic you like (and that fits the jar) and use laminating sheets (from Office Max or Walmart) to adhere to the jar(overlapping the graphic a tad so it will stick to the jar)

I use my trusty Xyron to laminate my graphics. It puts an adhesive and laminating sheet on in one step.

stick it on the jar , add a ribbon, some greenery, wire, candy , etc and a tealight and you are all set..

Hoard the jars... I hear Gerber is going to square plastic jars soon....

The wire is 19 guage black wire from the hardware store. I used 15" for the larger size jar. Make it intoa U shape and bring around the jar. Then "twist tie it on. Do two on each jar. make one wire go upwards and one down. Add a few beads (think they are called e beads ...larger than seed beads) before you twist the wire...The just take some jewelry pliers and roll it in. Or use your fingers....

[> Re: Easter Projects.....mine -- arla, 18:00:53 01/24/04 Sat [1]

eileen as always cute as a button.
what guage wire do you use. i have some baby food jars and since i don't have that fancy machine thingy i used some stickers that i had lying around but the guage wire i had wouldn't coporate is there a name on the one that you use? so that's all i have left is the wire and the bead part. mine are the smaller jars that were given to me (shh a couple years ago a box full i just haven't used don't tell my hubby i keep this stuff!)

[> Re: Easter Projects.....mine -- Eileen, 18:31:09 01/24/04 Sat [1]

arla,
It is 19 gauge black wire form the hardware store or your hubbys tool box.

Be sure and post yours when you get them finished....putting the wire on is the most fun. Glad you like the new jars.....
